Mean Guitar is a thriller with a supernatural/sci-fi twist. In New Orleans, rock guitarist Jay Duffy has died from a drug overdose, his custom made Fender Stratocaster electric guitar clutched in his hand. Months earlier, with the aid of Fender and some modern-day druids in southern Wales, Duffy had the guitar crafted from sacred oak wood. The druids also gave Jay one half of a powerful crystal to embed in the guitar.
Previous owners claim that this electric guitar has a history of causing fires, car accidents, plane crashes, and mental distress. Rock-star/guitarist Ian Flacke finds he is strangely connected to the chilling mystery, and not by coincidence. Is Ian's new-found guitar haunted by its original owner ... possessed by the spirit of a powerful druid ... or do ancient aliens dictate its destiny?
The journey of this wickedly enchanted guitar will take readers from the mountains of Colorado to the days of druids in ancient Britain and back again, each chapter unveiling more secrets of the mysterious and powerful alien crystal embedded in the guitar's sacred oak body.
In 400 A.D. a Roman Centurion sliced the crystal in half with his sword during a battle with a young druid sorcerer and the two halves went separate ways. One half remained in southern Wales, ultimately ending up in the Fender Stratocaster guitar that Ian Flacke now plays. Unaware of the guitar's sordid history, Ian plays it, loves it, and takes it with him on his European tour. The other half of the crystal eventually found its way into the possession of Alek Russur, a shrewd and wealthy European businessman with a very dark past who greatly desires to reintegrate the two halves. He sends professional assassins to stalk Ian and obtain the guitar with its embedded crystal while Ian tours Europe with his band.
The story comes to an exciting climax at a Rock festival near Stonehenge where the characters converge and the astonishing truth is revealed.
