Perry presents 80 books covering a range of reading levels from primary grades through middle school. The selections fall into five categories: "Greek Myths," "Myths & Legends from Around the World," "Native American & Early Indian Myths & Tales," "Folktales from Around the World," and "Tall Tales." After a brief plot summary, three reading-related activities are provided for each title: a school library activity and two others specifying either teacher or parental guidance. Unfortunately, some of the activities don't match very well and those involving parents are often didactic, uninspiring, and occasionally repetitive. The best ones are interdisciplinary with art, music, or science applications. Many of the library-related tasks involve consulting other sources or visiting specified Web sites. Additional book and multimedia resources conclude each section. A helpful title, particularly for school librarians.-Robin L.
