A dark comic that twists some classic fairy tales in a modern setting. The stories are connected by a doll that sees all the events. While it sounds a little cheesy, it is done really well. The doll has consciousness, that some of the characters can hear. So the doll tries to save them from these morbid situations.

Book one in the Nightmares & Fairy Tales series.Gory retellings of horror stories and fairy tales from the perspective of Annabelle, a rag doll who might just be cursed. My favorite short story in this collection was the retelling of Cinderella. It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "happily ever after."

There was no real introduction to what was going on or who the characters were and all of the stories felt rushed and shortened, I kept feeling as though I should be checking to make sure pages hadn't been ripped out and I WAS missing something. The artwork was very inconsistent, sometimes quite beautiful and detailed and others so sketchy I couldn't tell what was going on, though considering the rather gruesome nature of what was going on that may have been for the best. There were some really good and interesting ideas in this book, unfortunately the execution fell short.

I think Nightmares and Fairytales is a good book. It's very satisfying , yet kind of scary. I like the story about Snow White. I don't like that Snow White dies in the story but atleast she comes back to life in the end. I don't give alot of compliments to books often , so if you get one, you're really lucky. And I'm giving a compliment to this book by saying it's a very exiting and suspensful book. Not everybody gets a happily ever after.

this book is not for the faint of heart nor the very young of age. it pulls you in with beautiful, delicate drawings and a deceptively charming text. then suddenly you turn the page and BOOM! VIOLENCE, GORE, AND TERROR! quite lovely, really, the surprise with which it takes you. i loved this book, whether you call it a comic, a picture book, a graphic novel, or a manga. names don't really apply to something so diversely entertaining. I highly recommend it for anyone with an off-beat sense of humor. that, or anyone who's a fan of slg's many creators.

This book was really good, captivating in a strange twisted way. Lovely art. Just to die for.
