Gail portrays the everyday life that people with different mental illnesses live by. She interviewed four people each with a different illness and learned how they had each managed their illness throughout their lives. This book is an ethnography where Gail just wrote down the stories she was told. The book was interesting at first but it got repetitive as she wrote about all all of the stories from all four people. Many of the stories were similar. I wish this book had had more analysis and back ground information to go along with the stories, because the stories, even though they were interesting, did not give a lot of information. They were just memories of the people who lived the stories. If the book had had more information and statistics it would have improved immensely.
