Gr 9-12 A number of articles on a timely, controversial topic. Content includes articles on health care in general, minority health care, private versus government health care, and health care world-wide. Bibliographic information is included for all articles, which were published from 1983 to 1987. Each article is prefaced by questions posed to help focus and direct reading. Special features on interpreting editorial cartoons, identifying editorial bias, and recognizing point of view make this a useful educational tool. Subheadings, boxed material, graphs, and maps are used effectively and further aid reader understanding. A wealth of pertinent information and statistics support opposing views. Readability and quality of writing vary from article to article, but these selections are of overall value to students who need information for research or debates.
