Overview

This book was written to call attention to dysfunction in the Christian family, as well as in families at large. Families need to acknowledge this "elephant in the living room" that victimizes practically every family to some extent while they deny, and thus, accommodate its existence. The family has to address dysfunction if there's any hope for healthy relationships in churches, government, and society at large.

Additionally, this book is for anyone affected by dysfunction. The writer's intent is to shorten the long journey from self loathing, to self awareness, to faith that God didn't err in creating you. This book is the reader's permission to identify dysfunction, confront it, and initiate change.

Blessings!

About the Author

Lakeshia Watts was raised the oldest child and only daughter of devout Christians, a career soldier and homemaker. As a result, she grew up disciplined and focused. With a BS in accounting and a minor in military science, she worked as a national bank examiner for the Department of Treasury and a financial analyst with the Federal Reserve. Simultaneously, she pursued a career as an Army officer. Over 17 years, she was trained in explosives, commanded Basic Training, and oversaw recruiting operations. All the while, she was chasing validation and approval from her parents that she never got.

Since achieving freedom from her parents' toxic measures to control, Lakeshia has found peace and joy with "her boys" (husband Eric and sons, Teenager Xavier and Baby Josiah) in "Alabama the Beautiful". This book chronicles the 24 year evolution.
