The witch and her cat couldn't be happier, flying through the sky on their broomstick-until the witch drops her hat, then her bow, then her wand! Luckily, three helpful animals find the missing items and all they want in return is a ride on the broomstick. But is there room on the broom for so many new friends? And when disaster strikes, will they be able to save the witch from the clutches of a hungry dragon?

From the acclaimed creators of The Gruffalo, this enchanting story of quick wits and friendship is full of humor and adventure-and just the right amount of spookiness.

My 3 year old son absolutely loves this book and the movie too!! It's a wonderful story and should be added to any child's library.

It's a blustery day and the witch and her cat keep losing items and having to fetch them. They meet an array of helpful friends along the way and make room on the broom for everyone to ride along. That is until disaster strikes and a dragon appears! Room on the Broom is such a wonderful and memorable story! It is told in a flowing rhyme and is a sweet story with themes of kindness and friendship. The illustrations are soft and inviting and the characters are all so friendly that it's easy to love them and this story! This has been our most reread picture book of the month! My daughter chooses it for every storytime even though she hasn't really been interested in any of our other Halloween-themed books. She loves the animals and how they stick up for the witch and save her at the end!

Cute story of a witch on her broom with a lot of hitchhikers. The rhyming poem is wonderful. It was longer than I expected of a board book but adorable.

Very cute. And this is a very UN-scary witch. My son loves the new broom at the end!

This is a cute, upbeat, rhyming Halloween story. There is nothing scary about it at all, and in fact, it even has a nice message about sharing and teamwork. If you have a little one (like I did last year) who wants to be involved in the Halloween festivities, but can't helped but be spooked by every little thing, this book is safe for you!

I think this might be my most favourite Julia Donaldson book, because you can make some of the sounds, and the poetry is so well done.

The content is innocent. Just a fun book about a witch riding a broom during Halloween. The art was sufficient, but not amazing by any means. I doubt I would recommend it in a classroom other than for time filling so there's something to do.

This is an adorable story about a witch who keeps loosing things while she is flying through the sky. Each time she drops somethings and goes to find it a helpful animal is there to give her back her lost item. Each animal asks if there is room for them to fly on the broom, and of course there is. When I read this to my second grade class they absolutely loved it, they were finishing the rhymes by the end of the story. Great to incorporate into a creative writing lesson.

This is a very cute little picture book, another that has been a favorite of each of my three kids in turn at age four or so. A dog, a cat, a bird and a frog work together to save their friend the witch from a hungry dragon in this fun rhyming story about courtesy and teamwork.

Julia Donaldson writes wonderful books for young children. They rhyme which my 4 y/o granddaughters love and are fun for Grandma and Grandpa to read to them. Snail on the Whale is great too.

We purchased this book through a Scholastic book order a couple of years ago, and love it so much, that we have given the book to several others as gifts. The illustrations are adorable, and the rhyming of the story is perfect. I do the voices for my kids, and they think it's a hoot. I even read this to both their classes at the school Halloween parties last year, and it was a big hit. I have a lot of favorite children's books, but this is at the top of my list...

Wonderful imagery, clever repetitions cloaked in new, but familiar situations. Rhymes flow effortlessly. The book builds to an exciting climax, replete with humorous overtones. My granddaughter loves it, asks for it repeatedly, and has memorized much of it. Although it is about a witch, it is not a Halloween book. The story is timeless. Other pluses. "Room on the Broom" subtly demonstrates good behavior. In addition, I relate positively with the value system which undergirds the story.

My 2-year-old daughter and I read this story all of the time. Grandma sent it us and we're so grateful! What a darling story illustrating the importance of acceptance, friendship, and sharing. I've created fun voices for each of the characters which my daughter just eats up. This story is a keeper that we'll read all year round, for several years to come.

As Halloween approaches, my first graders choose every single Halloween book from the bookshelf in our classroom. It's not even Halloween yet, and we have read all of our Halloween books! I decided I needed to go find some more! I chose this book and they responded so well to it! They kept saying "I'm so into this book!" It was pretty funny. This is a book that they want to read over and over again too. We love it!

My children ages 3, 3 and 6 all LOVE this book! They ask me to read it over and over. I just bought it for a friend for a birthday gift and have recommended it to several people! The rhyming and repetitive lines are great for beginning readers and fun for little ones to "read" along with too! I love that this book is not about Halloween at all so it is a great read all year long! I definitely plan to add more of Donaldson's book to our home library.
