Overview

If an ex-popstar-turned-event planner can't find a Ren-faire killer, she may not survive the final act.

As a former member of a popular girl-band, Paisley Sutton knows what it means to be in the spotlight. So after she takes on an event- planning gig for the new Sugar Creek Renaissance faire, she's counting on a smooth opening night. But when one of the cast is murdered, Paisley knows her event has gone lethally off-script.

When her old flame Beau is named the prime suspect, Paisley enlists the help of her trigger-happy ex-CIA grandmother and aunt. As she tries to keep the faire alive and fights off her matchmaking family, she uncovers town secrets that might just get her killed. Can Paisley shine a light on the killer in time, or will the faire be her final curtain call?

Royally in Trouble is the second book in the lively Enchanted Events cozy mystery series with a dash of romance. If you like engaging characters, small-town intrigue, and laugh-out-loud moments, then you'll love Jenny B. Jones' Renaissance romp.

I loved everything about the first in this series from the meddlesome, slightly crazy CIA grannies to the small town feel that emanates from the story. So how could Jones possibly improve on what I already loved so much? Add a Renaissance Faire of course! Tights, gowns, jesters, a doom and gloom psychic and a mysterious murder quickly have Paisley’s world turned upside down and me laughing out loud. My favorite part of this series continues to be Slyvie and Frannie. These ladies are a hoot and so much fun to read. I’d love to hear more about their crazy spy adventures in the future. The titles for Sexy Book Club were amazingly outrageous and I had such a fun time imagining the covers for each book. I was hoping that Paisley and Beau’s romance would have progressed a little from the first book, but boy do they continue to throw off sparks. This book is a clean, humorous mystery that I would absolutely recommend for anyone wanting a fun read. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

With her signature sass, wit, and pop references, this is another hit from Jenny B. Jones. Paisley has to solve another murder mystery while trying to run a Renaissance faire, balancing diva clients, period costumes, knife-jugglers, her handsome will-they-or-won’t-they neighbor, and, of course, her crazy former-CIA grandma. I enjoyed trying to figure out who the killer was (I was wrong!) and I was dying to know where things would end up between Paisley and Beau. Jenny B. Jones is one of my must-read authors, and her latest release did not disappoint! It was entertaining, unexpected, and fun. It solved all the big questions while staying away from being predictable. I’m looking forward to book #3! Royally in Trouble is a stand-alone, but I’d definitely recommend reading the first Enchanted Events book (Engaged in Trouble) for context and some back story. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Jenny B. Jones creates a sassy heroine with Paisley Sutton, and her grandmother, Sylvie is just as much a hoot! One of the things I've grown to love about Jenny B. Jones is the genuine laugh out loud humor she creates in her books. While I read the first book in the series, this book can be read as a stand alone, but you'll want to read the first one. The whodunit part of the book is similar to other cozy mystery's. Nothing gory, and lots of humor. This is not a Christian fiction cozy mystery. There is no inspirational thread woven through the book. It is however, clean. No foul language or anything remotely distasteful. I'm a grandmother with grandkids from ages 14-3 and I'd be fine leaving this within their reach. Bottom Line: This is a book full of humor, sass, and whodunit complications revolving around event planning and a Renaissance faire. There are also 80's references. A clean read that is safe for pre-teen on up. Highly recommended!!! Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book via the publisher in association with the author's street team. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

In Royally in Trouble, Jenny B. Jones has crafted a smart, bright and hilarious mystery with a touching romance. It is thoroughly enjoyable. Many times I find these cozy type mysteries are too cutesy for me. But this one I could not put down. It is a story Paisley Sutton, a previous girl band pop singer who is sarcastic and quick-witted. She is an event planner currently involved in the Sugar Creek Renaissance Faire. Her grandmother, Sylvie and her aunt Frannie are recently retired CIA operatives who are still actively sleuthing at every opportunity. They also host the Sexy Book Club. When Paisley’s old friend Beau becomes the prime suspect in a murder, you can guess who steps in to solve the crime. All this combines to provide laugh out loud moments and a mystery that I didn’t figure out until the end. My favorite line in the book (that was not humorous) “Beau hesitated, a pause so full of unspoken words, I wanted to reach out and pop it so the thoughts would fall out and we’d have to speak each one.” And then there were too many humorous ones to note, but this one, “Now, moving on to the book that we all actually read. We shall now discuss… She Walked the Plank for His Booty.” “ Good heavens.” If you enjoy a truly well written story with a great deal of humor, read this book. I had not read the first in this series, but I will definitely go read it now and also anything else this author writes. I was given a free copy by the author but the opinion is entirely my own.

Ms. Jones does it again with Royally in Trouble! This book is the second book in this series. You can read this without reading the previous book, but it would be beneficial to read the first book before this one (just in understanding the characters better). This book is funny at times, romantic at times, suspenseful at times. Paisley is a has been rock star who is back at home in Sugar Creek as a business owner of Enchanted Events. This time a murder has occurred and Paisley’s friend Beau is getting the blame. Paisley doesn’t want everyone to think that Beau killed his uncle so she does a little investigating to clear his name. Paisley often finds herself in the biggest messes. Besides the murder, will Paisley realize how she feels about someone and will you see any romantic sparks? Be sure to read this book to learn more about Paisley’s love life. I love Ms. Jones’s books. The secondary characters in this book are amazing! They are so entertaining and usually comical at times. I highly recommend this book and her other books as well! If you enjoy mysteries and some laughter this book is for you! ***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the author for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.

I love me some JBJ! With lots of sass, humor, romance, and 80's references, your smile never quite fully fades before the next one forms. Royally In Trouble didn't disappoint. The line that made me laugh out loud..."Ever since you moved back to Sugar Creek, you and Beau have been circling each other like you were about to break into power ballads." Can't wait for book 3!
