RUNNING ON EMPTY, An LCR Elite Novel

The Danger Has Only Begun

Having survived a brutal childhood, Sabrina Fox believed she could handle anything. That was before she watched the love of her life die before her very eyes. Brokenhearted, her emotions on lockdown, she finds purpose and hope as an LCR Elite Operative rescuing victims from some of the most volatile places in the world.

Covert ops agent Declan Steele is used to a life of danger and deceit, but when the one person he trusted and believed in above all others sets him up, he'll stop at nothing to make her pay. Finally rescued from his hellish prison, Declan has one priority-hunt down Sabrina Fox and exact his revenge.

Trusting no one is a lonely, perilous path. Sabrina swears she's innocent and Declan must make a decision--trust his heart or his head. As memories of their life together returns, he realizes just how treacherous his torture had been and the target of his revenge shifts. But when Sabrina is taken, retribution is the last thing on his mind. With the assistance of Last Chance Rescue Elite, Declan races to rescue the only woman he has ever loved before it's too late.

J: This book deserves more than 5 stars!!! It has everything and I could not put it down. Didn't want to cook dinner, didn't want to go to bed, almost called in sick for work and just could not wait to get home to finish it (on the second day). I love the way this author writes. Have read 12 of her novels and 1 as Ella Grace and thoroughly enjoyed them all, but this one is my all time FAVORITE. Wish I could forget it so I could enjoy the excitement and suspense as I read it again.

***AMAZING***!!!! Anyone that follows my reviews, knows I'm a huge Christy Reece fan. I LOVE her LCR series! Running on Empty is a new LCR series. LCR Elite is going to be outstanding. I devoured Running On Empty in hours. It is my favorite book Christy has written and that is a very hard thing for her to do. I've loved so many, but this one takes the title. Declan by nature is sweet, caring, brave, and strong. BUT when he thinks he is betrayed by the woman he loves he changes into a vengeful, cold man. Sabrina is loyal, strong, and has a huge heart that Declan owns. It was so much fun to read their story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to read. It is definitely a book that will consume you until the last page has been read.

This is a good suspense/thriller. The premise is not original, but the author weaves a good story with it. The pacing is consistent. The dialogue is interesting, sometimes touching, and realistic. The characters are complex and believable. The good guys have appeal, and the bad guys aren't shallow stereotypes. Declan and Sabrina come across as two people who truly love one another. Their struggles with dealing with the after effects of Declan's kidnapping felt real. The author does a really good job at maintaining the suspense. She provides many plausible red herrings as the potential traitor or group of traitors. The ending is satisfying, both, logically and emotionally. This book is NOT a cliffhanger. One reviewer said the story would have been good had it not had so much "grafic" (their misspelling, not mine) sex. Yes, their are some graphic love scenes between Declan and Sabrina. While, obviously, it comes down to personal taste, I do not find them offensive in any way. There aren't many of them, and they are not gratuitous. They flow naturally from the plot line. They are not stuck in as filler in place of a logical and exciting plot. I enjoyed this book very much, and I will read more from this series.

I lovethis series of books. There was a ton of suspense and great action. Each book in this series gets better and better. Sabrina was a great character and her love for her husband even when he was being horrible to her was amazing to witness... great story!

Christy Reece once again gives us a great read.  I love the LCR series and Noah has always been my favorite so I was happy to have him in this one.  I love Sabrina and I felt for her the way Declan was treating, or more so ignoring her.  I wasn't too thrilled knowing about the torture, but it could have been worse.  I do have to say I was proud of myself I figured out who the bad guy was.  But I have read all of Christy's books and like to think I understand how she thinks.  When I started this book, I couldn't put it down. Make sure you have time to read the entire thing when you start.  Can't wait for the next ones.  I read in one day and it takes weeks to get the next one, that is hard....  If you have never read any of Christy's books you can start with this one and really not be lost.  Once you read one, you will want to read the rest. Such great suspense..

What a wonderful book! I'm not going to repeat the summary since it has already been mentioned many times on this page. Instead, I want to spend my time talking about how awesome this book is. Christy Reece is an auto-buy for me because she always delivers an action-packed story with a bigger-than-life, gentle and loving hero and a heroine who is any man's equal when it comes to fighting off bad guys and rescuing innocents. In this case, Declan and Sabrina are already married. After an abusive childhood, Declan is the only person that Sabrina trusts. But, it is extremely difficult for her when Declan returns from a year of abusive captivity and blames Sabrina for his being there. However, Sabrina, like all of Christy Reece's main characters, does not give up on Declan. She loves him and will help him through this even if he eventually divorces her as he continues to suggest. Even though he claims to no longer have any feelings for her, he still holds her when she is upset, and takes care of her when she needs him. I am so happy that this author wrote this LCR Elite book because it is a spin-off of her popular LCR books. If you haven't read all of them, you are missing some powerful romantic suspense novels. It is one of those books you can't put down until you have finished it. I cannot wait for the next book in this series because Christy Reece ALWAYS writes a powerful book.

am a big fan of the LCR series but this book just blew me away.  Full of edge of your seat suspense, action, mystery and true love story.  My heart broke for Sabrina and Declan, two people meant to be together but cruel circumstances keep them apart.  If you love romantic suspense this is the book for you.  Even though it's a series you can read it as a stand alone and not be lost.

This is definitely a book that you will not want to put down. I love Christy's LCR series where each book focuses on a different character but still includes the entire team.

Where to start…Christy Reece is an auto-buy author for me. Her romantic suspense is some of the best I’ve read. I know when I pick up one of her books; I’m going to get a despicable villain and a great couple! I absolutely loved Running on Empty; it’s full of action, suspense, and romance. I love reunion stories. We get a glimpse of Sabrina and Declan’s happiness in the beginning and how it is brought to a devastating end. I got emotional several times throughout this story as Declan struggles with whether or believe Sabrina’s declarations of innocence or not. Sabrina became a favorite of mine with her strength and belief in the love she and Declan shared, especially when Declan made believing in that love difficult. The villain was a huge surprise! I love when I can’t guess who the bad guy its. When you learn about the torture Declan endured, you can see how bad this villain is. Another great thing about Running on Empty is we get to catch up with some of the LCR gang. I can’t wait to see what is in store next for the LCR Elite crew. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Really enjoyed this book! The author did a great job showing situations that could happen in real life. Also, in the way the characters handled the situations.

Wow! This books had my heart pounding for so many reasons. The love between these two at the beginning was intense. And Sabrina doing everything she can to remind her husband that their love can overcome. The twists and turns of the mystery was good. I usually figure out the who-done-it sooner than this time. This is definitely worth a read.

Loved this book. I could not put it down, the suspense was just killing me. This is one of those books that you just have to know who did it and when you think you know who the bad guy is, turns out you are wrong.

I wanted to love this book but it became redundant. Over and over Sabrina and Declan are super secret agents- the best of the best! Over and over it was repeated- I almost every chapter. After 100 pages I started skipping through and could understand what happened at the end.

Read it all the way through in one sitting. I loved the fact that the heroine and hero both were extremely strong individuals.
