"SARAH" is the 2010 "Book of the Year" in the Prmier Book Awards. John Cobb comes from a blue collar, Fundamentalist home in Georgia. As a teenager in 1960's Georgia, his background seems a handicap that suggests little chance for great success in his life. His family and friends seek to put him on their chosen path to become a preacher. But John meets Sarah Clark, who shows him love and that he has potential for more in his life. Sarah's influence opens John's eyes to the smallness and bigotry of his background. Unfortunately the changes in John come at a price and cause a backlash that these star crossed lovers do not expect as a holy war is declared on Sarah. John loses Sarah and his own way, becoming destructive to himself and to others. Life takes him to new places and he becomes a man very different from the teenager he was. He is successful, moving far from his earlier background. Yet, dark times overwhelm him and when the light again comes, he finds that he must sacrifice everything to find what his heart desires most, Sarah.

About the Author

For over thirty years, William H Abbott had a successful career as a Paleontologist and Geologist, writing over seventy professional papers on his science. At age fifty he decided to fulfill an old dream of writing fiction. His first novel, "Sarah" was published in 2006 with mixed reviews. This novel tackles the problems of Fundamentalism and its effect of young people. This novel and its "star crossed lovers" was obviously offensive to many in the American Bible belt but touching to many other readers. "Sarah" was followed by "The Hawk and the Phoenix" which has received great reviews and was selected as the second place winner in General Fiction by Premier Book Awards in 2009. This wonderful mystery revolves around the theme of 'redemption'. It has been a big seller on Amazon's Kindle. Dr. Abbott recently published another mystery titled "Autopsy" in the 2009, issue 13 of the literary magazine Carpe Articulum. He is presently working on a new novel titled "The Gospel of Karl". Recently it was announced that "Sarah" won the "Best Book of the Year" award for 2010 in The Premier Book Awards.
