Overview

Scruples, Judith Krantz's  electrifying, world wide bestseller appeared fifteen  years ago and made book publishing history. Now  that unforgettable story, a story that marks an era,  a story that millions of readers wish had never  ended . . . continues. Only a single night's sleep  seperates the lives of the characters in  Scruples from this mesmerizing sequel.  Billy Ikehorn is a contemporary woman living on a  grand scale. A self-made beauty and the exquisite  owner of a fabled Beverley Hills boutique called  Scruples and married to the Oscar-winning producer  Vito Orsini. To those who only know her from  afar, she seems to lead a dream existence, wrapped in  all the power of glamout, riches, and success.  Then a stranger arrives in Billy's life—Gigi  Orsini, Vito's sixteen-year-old daughter by an early  marriage. Independent, deeply interesting,  street-smart, and enchantingly humorous, Gigi captures  Billy's heart and sets in motion a train of utterly  unexpected events. Life with Gigi hold both joy and  pain for Spider Elliot and Valentine O'Neill,  Billy's partners in Scruples. The many new freinds  Gigi makes during the next five years will grow  important to Billy in ways she could never have  forseen. Scruples Two moves swiflty  and unexpectadly, filled with breathtaking change,  from California to New York to Paris, following  two of the most fascinating and touching females in  modern fiction, Billy Ikehorn and Gigi Orsini.

In Beverly Hills only the infirm and the senile do not drive their own cars. The local police are accustomed to odd combinations of vehicle and driver: the stately, nearsighted retired banker making an illegal left-hand turn in his Dino Ferrari, the teen-ager speeding to a tennis lesson in a fifty-five-thousand-dollar Rolls-Royce Corniche, the matronly civic leader blithely parking her bright red Jaguar at a bus stop.

I have enjoyed reading this book repeatedly since it first was printed in paperback. Sometimes the story line gets a little sappy with romance, but it is a good view into the worlds of fashion and retail.

This should be the gold standard for erotic romance. The main character has the satisfying ugly-duckling-into-swan transformation and the story manages to include the most exciting cities in the world as backdrops. If you love fashion, travel, and hot love scenes, this is a must-read.

I was intrigued by the main character's ability to step into each different role life presented her. It was as if watching a flower from budding to opening to fading. Packed with emotion, ambition and eventual reality. I couldn't put it down.

The story of Billy, a 'poor relation' from a wealthy Boston family. This is her rags to riches, ugly duckling to beautiful swan story. Judith Krantz delivers a book that is hard to put down. Great character development. This is my favorite book of all time! I read it ( along with Scruples Two and Lovers, the sequels) at least once a year!
