Good story, 2nd in this series, in the same vein as the 1st book with the brothers' transport business. Jack will melt your heart and your panties, with a ton of patience and love where Ronnie is concerned. Ronnie is a lot broken, and the whole Crews family, by blood or not, helps this wonderful woman find her place with them. There is drama here with twists, and a bit of the macabre as Ronnie's bosses collect anything weird or abnormal. All the action, heat, snark and funny bits keep the story moving at a fast pace, with Howler and the new Peanut adding to the goodness. I received an ARC from the author thru Net Galley, all the opinions are my own and voluntary

Slow Ride is everything its predecessor, Driven to Distraction, isn’t. Ronnie Ashford and Jack Crew have a hilarious meet-cute and I’m all over this pairing like a wine connoisseur over a 1999 Château LaTour Pauillac (I totally googled that, a bottle recently auctioned for £330/$427 so ‘sgood). Ronnie doesn’t do commitments, no dating, no relationships, no friendships, no attachments whatsoever, just her job, even her apartment is ready to leave at a moment’s notice. She has some trauma in her past that makes her abrasive and standoffish. Then we have Jack who’s already renovating a house and does favours for his old school teacher and has so many community ties, he’s a walking Gordian Knot. But boy-meets-girl and slowly but surely, things fall into place. With suspense and a teensy mystery tossed in for flavour. And it does have flavour. The bad guy du jour, North Runde, skeeves me out. My first thought was literally, and I’m quoting from my notes here, “fudging serial killer obsessed with Ronnie”. The vibes coming off this guy made me glad Ronnie and I are of the same mind, never go anywhere without a knife. I’m a fan of Ronnie’s bosses, gothic twins Drake and Drew, and Ronnie is definitely my favourite character in this one. She’s stereotype edgy but I adore her because Lori doesn’t usually write characters like Ronnie and it shows that she’s expanding her character types. Yay! I had a couple things I wasn't fond of in Slow Ride. I'm just going to get this out of the way. I keep calling the book Slow to Ride and that is a totally different connotation, don't you think? Jack's internal dialogue could be a bit, well, objectifying towards Ronnie. The cringey part that got me was post-"trust has been established" sex, he's lying there with her and thinking "He felt like he'd just solved a difficult puzzle, conquered a nation, scored first prize." Cringe! It was irksome to read. And yes, I did spend a good ten minutes venting about this scene while I was reading. I want to put some content warnings in here for y’all. (on site this is hidden by a lovely button) We have unsolicited sexual harassment towards our hero (because sexual harassment isn’t okay no matter the gender), and “mild” animal abuse (all animal abuse is severe in my book but this is quickly abated by our hero and heroine and the animal is 100% unharmed and safe). There is also kidnapping and slightly descriptive talk of murder in here. Oh, and a stabbing scene. And gun violence. Overall, I'm giving Slow Ride 4 stars and 4 flames because this is the Lori Foster I know and love. I highly encourage y'all to go find yourselves a copy if you're into respectful alpha men, mustang cars, weird collectors, and goofy dogs. This has been a review from Once Upon a Time, I Read a Book (dot-com), for more of my reviews and funky content, come visit my site!

Loretta - it was almost the same storyline as Brody & Mary. I hope Charlotte fares better. Good story, good characters, and always well written.

Ronnie Ashford is hiding a lot of pain and has trouble sleeping. She walks into a bar one night with the intent of seducing someone. History has proved to her that this helps her to escape her demons. She finds the perfect candidate and things seem like a go until she hears someone call out his name. It is Jack Crews and Ronnie is in town to utilize the services of his transport company. She only wanted one night, and if she would be working with him, then that certainly could not happen. Jack was enthralled, but now it seems as if it will be strictly business between him and the sexy bombshell. She makes it clear that nothing at all will happen between them. Ronnie really needs the business that is owned by Jack and his brother. Her “collections “are often quite odd and sometimes the circumstances can be very dangerous. Meanwhile, Ronnie has had a very tough past and this is where the true conflict and even a strong element of danger enters the story. So, not only is there a sizzling romance to be enjoyed, there is a mystery that is part of the scenario. Also, we get to see Howler again, Jack’s brother Brodie’s dog. I loved Howler in the first book, Driven to Distraction. He was important then and is just as much now. Indeed, the scenes with Howler made me smile. I loved this book and am enjoying this Road to Love series by Lori Foster. As a matter of fact, I love all of her wok and have read dozens of them over the years. Although part of a series, Slow Ride does well as a standalone. Many thanks for this ARC to review. This is my honest opinion.

This is the second book in the Road to Love series and it is awesome! We get to know Jack and Ronnie and they do not disappoint! Of course Howler and Peanut are an awesome addition! Jack and Ronnie overcome obstacles and danger all while giving us a glimpse into their explosive chemistry! Slow Ride will be your new Lori Foster favorite!! I received an Advanced Reader Copy from NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Slow ride is the second installment of the Road to Love series by Lori Foster. I have been waiting for Jack's story and Lori did not disappoint. This is a good book for anyone who enjoys contemporary romantic suspense novels. Ronnie is ready for a no stings attached one night stand when Jack ruins it by stating his name. Ronnie collects oddities for two eccentric brothers who hire Jack to assist Ronnie with pickups after a series of dangerous pickups. Ronnie has been let down by people closest to her in the past and has learned not to trust. Together Jack and Ronnie face danger, rescue a kitten and find each other. Howler ends up adopting the kitten and Ronnie ends up keeping Jack.

Book two of the Road to Love series, “Slow Ride” features Jack Crews and Veronica (Ronnie) Ashford. I enjoyed the story an the characters. Not real fond of the stuff the collectors in this and the previous book ‘collect’ yuck factor . That said, I love the action, the interaction and the development of the story and characters as it progresses. Ronnie works for a set of twins, who are just totally off the wall, and she needs Jack to help her gather the collection items. She doesn’t want to need him, but comes to realize that without him the problems she runs into would be so much worse. I love Lori Fosters books, she always has such a great style of writing, and this is another good one. I received this book in digital form as an Advanced Reader Copy for an honest review. I liked this one!

I'm loving this series by Lori. I miss the fighters, but this is a whole new set of hotties that I can really get behind. After so many books, you'd think there would be some recycling of ideas .. but Lori Foster never disappoints. Each book has its own story line that is exciting and unique - and this is no different! She is one of my favorite authors for many reasons, but I love how well she works suspense into her books without being overbearing or letting the romance fall by the wayside. Highly recommended!!

Lori Foster does it again! As a long time fan of this author, I can honestly say her stories just keep getting better. Slow Ride is the second installment of this Road To Love series and I gotta say the heat level was turned up just a bit for Jack and Ronnie. Jack is Brodie's brother. (If you haven't met Brodie yet, you're missing out on a yummy treat.), Anyway, Lori turns up the yummie-ness with Jack by giving him a bit of that Alpha intensity that all girls like. Ronnie, she took a while for me. I was about a quarter way into the book before I decided I liked her. She's a little more than rough around the edges and she guards her independence to the point of being almost mean. (My opinion). But she won me over the second she baby talked a tiny, feral critter. This book is full of heart, healing, and steam. Jack and Ronnie will hold you captive until the very last word. Thank you Lori for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I really enjoyed Jack and Ronnie's story The crazy situations that they encountered while collecting oddities for Ronnie's bosses were interesting and kept me guessing about the identity of the bad guy. It was fun catching up with the characters from Driven to Distraction, and I'm so glad that we got to see more of Brodie's dog. I absolutely loved the scenes with Howler! Slow Ride was a great read! I look forward to reading Charlotte's story next. I voluntarily read & reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley.

Jack is pretty polished and always seems to be nice and polite but after he meets Ronnie, his protective side also kicks in. Ronnie has been abandoned, lied to, blamed and hurt by her family so trusting, accepting and getting close to anyone just isn't part of her life or plan. She's instantly attracted to Jack the minute she sees him but fights the feelings. They agree to work together and although she doesn't like Jack's protectiveness, she comes to appreciate it as well as the man himself. When Ronnie is in danger, Jack goes out of his way to make sure she's safe and she's concerned he'll get hurt. Thank goodness for Jack's brother Brodie who agrees to provide backup. Great the way Jack's family accepts Ronnie and works to gain her trust and love. Enjoyed the interactions between the family members. Great book and quick read! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Heart pounding excitement, sweetly sexy, emotionally thrilling and action packed adventure filled with so much passion, drama and dangerous twists..... loved this exciting journey between two exciting, sexy and stubborn charters that were just meant to be. Don't miss this adventure!

Lori Foster has delivered two very different main characters. Ronnie has built a wall around herself due to past experiences, so she is tough on the outside, but fragile inside. Jack Crews seems to be a quiet, polite, conservative man until something sets him off and then he goes totally alpha. I loved both these characters and the chemistry between them. Happily, the Crews family with their dog, Howler, are all in the book, and any book with Howler touches my heart. This book follows Driven to Distraction but works well as a standalone. I received an ARC from NetGalley, and this is my honest review.

Ronnie Ashford has a strict rule about mixing business and pleasure, she doesn't ever do anything to muddy the waters between her work and home life. But when she meets the man who is supposed to become her new partner, she begins to realize that rule of hers is going to be hard to abide by. Jack Crews is gorgeous, and being trapped in the confines of a car with him for long periods of time is going to be torturous! She doesn't think she needs any help finding and transporting the antiques her bosses want, but her bosses say otherwise. So they send Jack Crews to her doorstep, to be her driver and bodyguard. She is beyond frustrated about having him tag along on her ventures, and she is not afraid to voice her opinion about that fact, but Jack just plays it cool, and acts like it's no big deal. From the moment these two meet it's full on fireworks and of course some mild irritation too... which just keeps fueling the fire, and stirs up lots of moments to swoon over! Slow Ride is a passionate little page-turner that delivers on all fronts, it's got steamy moments to keep you swooning, and a touch of suspense to keep you on your toes! I thoroughly enjoyed this newest installment in the Road to Love series, the instant I cracked the cover I was hooked by the words, and smitten with the characters. Ronnie and Jack were quite the pairing, their constant banter exchanges kept the evident sparks between them simmering, and the anticipation high. I've got to say Ms. Foster has penned another stellar tale here, it was a perfectly blended romance, with characters that I couldn't help but fall for! Highly recommend! I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

3.75 stars--SLOW RIDE is the second instalment in Lori Foster’s contemporary, adult ROAD TO LOVE erotic, romantic suspense series. This is acquisitions agent Ronnie Ashford, and Jack Crews’ story line. SLOW RIDE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from several third person perspectives including Ronnie and Jack SLOW RIDE follows a similar premise to book one – ROAD TO LOVE-in that acquisitions agent Ronnie Ashford is sent to meet up with a man who will be her guardian and protector as she is tasked as the courier for the rare and odd. Enter Jack Crews, the man with whom Ronnie will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Ronnie and Jack, and the potential fall-out as Ronnie is target by a unknown assailant who wants Ronnie for himself. Ronnie Ashford acquires oddities –murderabilia, the macabre-items found, lost and procured for the collectors Drake and Drew Dolby, but several of Ronnie’s recent assignments find our heroine’s life precariously on the edge when she becomes the target of someone unknown. Jack Crews has quickly fallen for the woman that will call to his heart but everyone becomes suspect when numerous attempts on Ronnie’s life place both in danger. Mysterious strangers, messages and attacks push Ronnie to reconsider the people from her past. The relationship between Ronnie and Jack is one of immediate attraction but Ronnie doesn’t do relationships fearing loss and rejection as happened long ago. Jack also struggles with memories of the past, of a father whose lifestyle affected the family he left behind. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. We are reintroduced to Jack’s brother Brodie and his wife Mary; his mother Roz, and foster sisters Charlotte, as well as Drake and Drew Dolby, and a number of sellers hoping to make money from their odd collectibles. SLOW RIDE is a story of family, friendship, obsession and love. The premise is engaging and intriguing; the romance is passionate and hot; the characters are eclectic, charismatic and intense. I did struggle with a couple of issues: the revelation and identity of the person responsible for the attacks against our story line heroine was disappointing –the disconnection between events and threats with no explanation-as was the quick conflict to the story line resolution.

"Slow Ride" (Road to Love Book 2) by Lori Foster is a terrific read. This is a great follow up to "Driven to Distraction". I loved Jack and Ronnie's story. This is a fantastic addition to this series, packed with action, romance, passion, entertaining characters, humor, family, and more. I enjoyed getting to catch up with Brodie, Mary, Howler, Ros, and Charlotte. I'm anxious to read what happens next in the series in Charlotte's story! Highly recommend to all fans of romance, action, and series.

I really enjoy when an author "flips the script" on us and takes what we, the readers, would typically think of as male characteristics and gives them to the heroine. You don't see that too often in contemporary romance, but that's just what Ms. Foster did with Ronnie in Slow Ride. She's someone who's more interested in scratching an itch, rather than getting involved with someone long term. Ronnie gets more than she bargained for with Jack Crews, though, in both her personal and professional life. When things don't go as she hoped professionally, she does her best to keep her distance personally. But with Jack, that's kind of a lost cause, as he slowly breaks down the barriers she's built around herself. He's just as persistant and caring as his brother Brodie, and it would take someone far stronger than Ronnie, and she's pretty damn strong, to resist everything he offers. While things between Ronnie and Jack are heating up, so is the mystery of who and why someone is after her. I have to admit, I think I might have to steer clear of their little town, there's just a bit too much craziness going on there! Where do these people come from that collect all these oddities, and why is someone else always after them?!? But it sure makes for an entertaining story! I'm loving the Crew's family. Jack, Brodie, and their mom Ros, along with Charlotte, sure know how to make someone feel cared for and loved. I can't tell you how excited I am for Charlotte's story- the little peek into the next book has definitely piqued my interest!

Slow Ride sucks you in a keeps you turning the pages! After the second chapter I was hooked, I could not put this book down. The chemistry between Jack & Ronnie is off the charts, I love the bickering and snark, it's all part of the buildup to a great ending. Ronnie is strong, independent and endearing. Jack is protective, a little over the top at times and has to learn how to handle Ronnie so he doesn't tick her off! I loved their story and can't wait for the next one. This is the second book in the Road to Love series but can be read on it's own. I've read both and highly recommend them.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I was excited to dig into the next book in this series. Veronica "Ronnie" Ashford was here to meet this driver, get him to decline the job and get back to work. Meeting Jack Crews was not in her plan nor was the chemistry she found between them. Ronnie was used to being along and refused to be dependent on anyone that is until Jack Crews walked into her life. Slowly Jack shows Ronnie that not only can he be trusted but his family can as well. When Ronnie is being threatened Jack refused to let her do this alone. Wonderful story of love, trust and family.
