Carrie Underwood brought a lil' bit o' country to the American Idol crown in the series' fourth season, so it's not surprising that her debut is the kind of radio-friendly, country-crossover affair that falls somewhere between LeAnn Rimes and Faith Hill. Though her handlers would undoubtedly prefer a comparison to the unstoppable Hill, Underwood has more in common with Rimes -- both are girl-next-door types with strong voices capable of punching out big, Dianne Warren–penned power ballads. Not surprisingly, Warren leaves her mark on this Okie's debut with a trio of slickly produced, pop-leaning ditties of a romantic nature: "Lessons Learned," "Whenever You Remember," and the title cut. But Underwood's strengths come out when she draws from her roots, whether it's the religious conviction infusing "Jesus, Take the Wheel" or the autobiographical musings behind "I Ain't in Checotah Anymore," both dressed up with just the right mix of pedal steel and fiddle, with the latter cheekily contrasting small-town life with making the rounds in the Big Apple. Best of all is "Before He Cheats," the kind of sassy, swaggering revenge fantasy that wouldn't sound out of place on a Gretchen Wilson album. With her musical talents perfectly pitched for today's pop-country, it wouldn't be surprising to see Carrie Underwood succeed far beyond the small screen.

I love CARRIE UNDERWOOD SHE IS AWESOME! SHE IS MY FAVORITE SINGER. I listen to her all the time. When my dad says he wrote one of her songs i wouldn't believe him. If it was true it would be weird. CARRIE UNDERWOOD ROCKS!

I took my time in getting Carrie Underwood's "Some Hearts" beacuse I thought there were only a couple of good songs. But once I got it and listened to's WONDERFUL!!! Every song is great. There is a wide variety of the type of songs too...some love songs, an angry woman song, and more personal feeling songs. Carrie Underwood is extremely talented and great to sing along with. I love this cd and strongly reccomend it to others. Don't take as long as I did in buying it!!!

Before this CD came out, I wasn't such a big fan of country. However, Carrie Underwood's voice is amazing! She has such passion and emotion in her voice. Great work, Carrie, and we look forward to your next album.

Still going to buy it and still will be good, but "Angels brought me here" and "Alone" should have DEFINITELY been on it-- very disappointed that they are not. I hope its more pop than country, but I'll give it a try anyway...

Someone mentioned putting out different CD's for different genres. That might be a good idea. I particularly liked Before He Cheats, We're Young and Beautiful, Wasted and Inside Your Heaven.

I know this cd will be INCREDIBLE, like anything else carrie has made, but i was REALLY hoping that angels brought me here would be on this cd. oh well, it will still be great!

This CD was amazing. It is definitely my favorite album of the year. It also proves that Carrie can sing most any type of music, and each song could be a potential hit. There are faster songs (Some Hearts, Before He Cheats, I Ain't in Checotah Anymore, We're Young and Beautiful), and there are slower songs (Jesus Take the Wheel, Whenever You Remember, Don't Forget to Remember Me). It is no suprise that this CD has done as well as it has. Already it's gone platinum, and the Jesus Take the Wheel Music Video has won CMT's flick or pick a few weeks in a row!
