There's something about the New York Times bestselling Julie James...

Of all the hotel rooms rented by all the adulterous politicians in Chicago, female Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde had to choose the one next to 1308, where some hot-and-heavy lovemaking ends in bloodshed. And of all the FBI agents in Illinois, it had to be Special Agent Jack Pallas who gets assigned to this high-profile homicide. The same Jack Pallas who still blames Cameron for a botched crackdown three years ago—and nearly ruining his career…

Work with Cameron Lynde? Are they kidding? Maybe, Jack thinks, this is some kind of welcome-back prank after his stint away from Chicago. But it’s no joke: the pair is going to have to put their rocky past behind them and focus on the case at hand. That is, if they can cut back on the razor-sharp jibes—and smother the flame of their sizzling-hot sexual tension…

Julie James pens another deliciously sexy story in Something About You. Assistant US Attorney Cameron Lynde just wants to get some much needed sleep. Her home is having the floors refinished so she is spending the night in a hotel. Her neighbors have been having some wall banging lovemaking. It's making it impossible to sleep. Next thing she knows there was a murder next store and she is in protective custody. Special Agent Jack Pallas has been assigned to the case. This is the some agent that blames Cameron for ruining his FBI career. Jack Pallas can't believe his luck of all the people to be assigned to protect it has to be Cameron Lynde. A major case three years ago all but stopped his rise in the ranks at the FBI. Now he is back on track and he won't let Cameron ruin it again. Jack and Cameron need to put their past behind them and focus on who now wants to harm Cameron. Cameron and Jack both discover misconceptions about each other that lead to a sizzling attraction. Once they give into their passions nothing will stop them from being together. Something About You is wickedly funny and smoking hot. The Dialogue is fast paced and witty. This book is a great book that will stay in your thoughts long after you have turned the last page. I am looking forward to more from this author.

Contemporary romance fans will rejoice in SOMETHING ABOUT YOU, the third delightful contemporary by Julie James. In Chicago, Illinois, hard-working Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde has decided to treat herself to a weekend at the luxurious Peninsula hotel while her newly refinished hardwood floors dry at her Victorian home. However, instead of getting the R & R she planned for, she finds herself the sole witness to a high-profile murder in the hotel room next door. After the authorities find a videotape with a U.S. Senator involved with a dead call girl, FBI Special Agent Jack Pallas is put in charge of the case. Of all the agents who could be assigned the investigation, Jack is the last one Cameron wants to see. Three years ago, when she was a new Assistant U.S. Attorney, she had to shut down an organized crime case in which Jack had worked undercover for several years. Likewise, Jack isn't thrilled to see Cameron since he believes she's directly responsible for a demotion he received from the Department of Justice. Will the feisty Cameron and the brooding Jack be able to set aside their past differences to solve this high profile case? And what about their former chemistry that seems to be as strong as ever? In a market where too few really good contemporary romances are being published, Julie James is breathing life back into this subgenre with her witty and wonderful love stories full of great chemistry and sparkling verbal repartee. There's something about Julie James's unique writing that will make readers definitely notice SOMETHING ABOUT YOU!

Witty, romantic, suspense is a fun quick read. This story is fast-paced, great action, involving corruption, conspiracy and a murdering stalker. In an attempt to rejuvenate following a three month stressful racketeering trial, US Assistant District Attorney, Cameron Lynde has booked herself into a hotel in Chicago for an overnight stay. A lot of raucous ensues in the next room all night. She calls hotel security. It ends up that there's a murdered woman next door. Cameron is questioned and sequestered in her room while the investigation is underway. FBI Special Agent Jack Pallas and his partner, Wilkins, enter the situation. Cameron is a quick wit, sarcastic and gives as good as she gets in and outside the courtroom. ENJOYED! Other good reads are HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET, THE LAST CHILD, EXPLOSION IN PARIS, ON FOLLY BEACH, and LIFE IN DEFIANCE.

There's "Something About You," I just can't put my finger on it? Could it be that you'll laugh your derriere off? How about the lustful desires you mange to project upon yourself? Like, having a provocatively gorgeous FBI agent follow you around in & out of the bedroom? { >;o)~ Devilishly Wicked Grin } Or the constant "word fencing" between Jack & Cameron, causing you to beg them to descend upon their sexual frustrations they posses for one another? Well all three were a definite "YES!" for me. I immensely enjoyed this novel. It was a quick, delightful, & gratifying read. And the legal logistics were fascinating as well. My only complaint was that Ms. James revealed who the culprit was early on; however, she didn't disclose his/her motives. I would have undoubtedly preferred to be surprised at the end. Yet, overall it was an EXCELLENT story. WELL DONE MS. JAMES, THIS NOVEL DESERVES WELL BEYOND A 5 STAR RATING!!

Man this book was HOT! Julie James wasn't kidding when she said that there was sexual tension between the two main characters. All in all i was attracted to this book because of its story line. Throw in a murder, FBI agent, two people of the opposite sex who can't tolerate each other and I'm there.Great book!

Cam an assistant U.S. Attorney and Jack and FBI agent have had a rocky work past, but are thrown together again when Cam is the only witness to a crime. Not thrilled to she her again, Jack (the bad boy FBI agent) is assigned the case. Working so closely together allows them to rehash the past, and they both realize what the mean to each other. "Something About You" is a good mix of romance, humor and suspense.

I read this well-written contemporary romance while I was on vacation, at the beach, and it was just what I needed to get away from my everyday cares. Ms. James writes stylishly and cleanly. Her characters are well drawn, and the heroine, Cameron, is not only beautiful but intelligent, and what's more, she doesn't wait around for the hero, Jack, to save her. She's always part of the action, protecting him as much as he protects her. And while I don't always go in for the antagonists-become-lovers romance trope, in this book it really works. Recommended for contemporary romance fans, and fans of strong heroines. Four stars.

Julie James' books are always high on alluring sexual tension but slightly lacking in credibility. So while the chemistry between Cameron and Jack was H-O-T, it does require a bit of suspension of disbelief to take in the magnitude of these characters' occupations and backgrounds: Cameron is basically a do-no-wrong up-and-comer at the U.S. Attorney's office, and Jack is the surly ex-undercover FBI agent with torture and betrayal in his past (torture? really? and it's merely glossed over by saying how his broad, broad, chiseled chest was covered with scars? methinks one needs to delve a little deeper into the unseen effects of torture on a person). Still, plenty enjoyable, and a slightly more favorite of hers than some of her other books!

A romance where the heroine has a brain and the characters (mostly) act and talk like real people! I'm not a big contemporary fan, but this was really good and I'll be on the lookout for more of James' books.

Just finished reading the book. The best book have ever read so far. Contemporary story, throw in some strong characters - Cameron and Jack Pallas,a murder mystery (not so mystery,as we knew the murderer beforehand) and a sizzling chemistry between Cameron and Jack.

I LOVE this book and it's one of my favorites! I would classify this as contemporary romance though there is a mystery and some suspense included. It has a nice blend of both genres as well as some great comedy. The writing was really enjoyable, especially the witty banter between the characters. The pace was a bit slow in the beginning as the story was established and the heat doesn't kick up between Jack and Cameron until about 40% but I never really felt bored by the story. All parts of the story were well fleshed out and there was plenty of backstory as to the conflict between Jack and Cameron. We actually get a bit of a flashback to the case they were working on three years ago and though I liked having all the information, some of this could have been summarized more to pick up the pace in the first half of the book. But what I enjoyed the most about this book was the characters, from our hero and heroine to our side characters. Cameron was a wonderful heroine; she's intelligent, tough, and a dedicated woman who really seems to have her life together. I especially liked that she didn't fight having FBI protection and she understands that she's in danger. I hate when romance heroines refuse protection; I mean come on, independence isn't as important as your life. Cameron doesn't have this problem and it clearly demonstrates she's the smart person we're told she is. I also really loved her friendship with Amy and Collin and I'm glad that Julie James included so much of them in the story because all MCs should have friends to round out their lives. It didn't take long for me to fall for Jack and his glowering, gruff demeanor that really hides a soft marshmallow inside, at least where Cameron is concerned. He's understandably angry when they are first reunited because he believes she's the one who got him transferred three years ago. However, he never lets that interfere with Cameron's safety and once things are cleared up he's not afraid to show Cameron how much he wants her. Jack is very much an alpha male but he's not obnoxious about it and in fact the few times Cameron and Jack butt heads, it's a wonderful battle of wills. But the wonderful banter isn't just reserved to these two because Jack and his partner Wilkins have some great conversations. I would love to have Wilkins' story because he seems like such an easy going and funny guy and he was a great foil for Jack's more serious personality. Everything really worked for me in this story and I was really impressed by Julie James's writing and her storytelling. The chemistry between Jack and Cameron is great and though things start off a bit slow, the development of their relationship is genuine and a joy to read. Content Note: strangulation death scene

I won this book from Goodreads and I am ever so grateful. Julie James has written an extremely intense romantic thriller. This is the story of Assistant US Attorney Cameron Lynde and F.B.I. agent Jack Pallas. They have a rocky past but must work together to solve a murder that Cameron sort of witnessed and Jack is investigating. Attempts on Cameron's life draws them closer together and soon the sparks are flying.

I got this because everyone said it was so funny. Maybe I am missing something but not funny so far. I put it aside for something better. Just couldn't get attached to the characters.
