A great voice singing great songs recorded by a great producer. That is Soul, the sixth studio album from Grammy-winning recording artist, Seal. Each song is a soul classic, from Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come," Ben E. King's "Stand By Me" and Ann Peebles' "I Can't Stand the Rain" to Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes' "If You Don't Know Me By Now" and Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long." Produced by David Foster, Soul is the perfect coming together of man, material and moment.

I have been waiting for Seal to sing these songs for a long time. I can't believe all the great songs are on one CD. You must buy this one. This CD really showcases Seal's voice!

I don't know Seal's music but when I saw an interview of him singing a cut from this CD, I knew I had to get it and I have not been disappointed. I'm in my early 50's. I knew all the lyrics by osmosis having grown up to these songs. That's one thing that's so great about soul music. The lyrics meant something; you could follow them and they entered your memory with ease. With today's music, no matter how much I might love the music, except for a refrain here and there, I couldn't tell you the lyrics. I'm not out of touch -- my daughter's only 11 so I do keep up with today's music. I love Seal's voice on this CD. His voice fits each song perfectly even though they were originally performed by varying artists. I love that he didn't try to completely rework these songs although he still did his own thing with success. I just naturally know every nuance of the original songs so I could easily hear the differences and was always pleasantly surprised. Whether you're younger or older, if you don't know Seal and you don't know soul music, give this a try. I promise you that you will want to listen over and over again. You'll find yourself singing and dancing along, or just mellowing out. And for those of us who are a little older, I promise that you won't mind turning the volume up for Seal's CD.

Wow! Seal has the best vocals I have heard since Seal II. This CD is amazing. If you like the old soul that has disappeared with the newer artists, then this is the CD for you! I am 36 and grew up to Sam Cooke, Harold Melvin and the BlueNotes and Deniece Williams. Seal has placed such a classic touch to these tracks. I can't stop listening to the music. Wow!!!!!!

The entire CD is great. I was skeptical at first, cause I've never really got into Seal's music. But I thought from the song listing it might just be good. I was SO WRONG. Its GREAT. Its A Mans World Knock on Wood Ive Been Loving You Too Long.. all I can say is WOW... Buy it, listen to it...I've been wrong about many things in my life...This however is not one of them.

This CD is a must have if you're a soul lover! Just fantastic! I'm a 62 year old woman who grew up listening to these soulful hits. This is Seal at his best! Let's see what happens at the Grammy Awards. It's a winner!

I purchase few C.D.'s but love every song on this C.D. Saw Seal perform 2 songs from this c.d. on Oprah and had to purchase. Excellent for all audiences. Soulful and romantic. Old songs redone with his personality and talent added to make new hits.

His remake of these classics is an amazing piece of work. He has made them more soulful and penetrating than their original release. Unlike Cooke and Green and the others, Seal has no doubt lived a life that was built on turbulence, violence and hope.

It takes a brave singer to cover songs by the immortals of R&B, Sam Cooke, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, Ben E. King, the wonderful Otis Redding and James Brown, but Seal not only treats each song with obvious reverence, but brings his own touch to each one. In doing so, he knocks this one right out of the park! This collection of songs should be an object lesson for the current crop of singers who feel that they should take a classic and dress it up as something more than the writers intended. Each song on this CD remains faithful to the original without being an exact copy, and contributes to be success of the whole package. I hope that Seal will create a follow-up to this CD in the same vein, because with the wealth of all-time classics that are waiting to be rediscovered, there will be no shortage of source material.

This is a great CD from SEAL. I was very impressed with him singing oldies that were from various artist. There were times I had to remember it was SEAL and not the original artist. This CD was a good buy and shows how talented SEAL is. I have shared this CD with family members that have put it on their IPODS and really liked it.

Seal proves that it's possible to revisit old classics and make them sound fresh without turning the arrangements on their heads. Every selection here is a soul essential, and Seal does justice to them all. Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Curtis Mayfield, Ben E. King, even James Brown are lovingly rendered without sounding like karaoke covers or grotesque (gruesome)"reinterpretations" like so many artists have done. Very highly recommended.

Seal shows his versatility as an artist with this collection, while still remaining true to himself. If you get stuck in traffic or have a bad day, this cd is the perfect antidote. You cannot stay in a sour mood, and will find yourself tapping your feet, and the steering wheel. Have fun.
