Speaking Through My Skin by Bruce A. Jacobs is a collection of 45 poems divided into sections entitled, "Flesh," Bone," and "Blood." They demonstrate his firm command of language and form and are full of surprises and original observations. The poet examines tough social and personal situations, interpreting and commenting with wit, irony, and biting humor. Speaking Through My Skin is the third annual winner of the Naomi Long Madgett Poetry Award.
About the Author
Bruce A. Jacobs is a poet and freelance writer presently living in Baltimore, Maryland. A native of Rochester, New York, and educated at Harvard, he has received a Maryland State Arts Council individual artist grant and writing residencies in the United States and abroad. His poems have appeared in such journals as American Writing and African American Review; he is author of one chapbook, Cathode Ray Blues, and an audiotape of his poems.
