Overview

THE THUNDERBOLTS are coming to New York to take down Spider-Man! Spidey's a villain? Norman Osborn's a hero? What kind of crazy, mixed-up world is this? Next thing you'll tell us is that black is white and white is black... or maybe that has something to do with Venom, Mister Negative, and the birth of an all-new Spider Villain! Or would that be an all-new Spider-Hero? Spidey's Brand New Day will be changed forever! Amazing Spider-Man (1999) #568-573.

I LOVED this book. Ever since Brand New Day has started, Peter the loser has been back. The world is against him and his villians are thought as the HEROES? Of course! Menace is back to trouble? Yes! A new development for a new villian? Guess. A new symbiote? Don't you know it! This is a TERRIFIC buy. Slott really helps you understand what Spidey's situation is. Iit is really gunny in parts. The art is OK. It doesn't pop off the page as you would want it to. An there are too many colors in the last isdue. Pink, light green, red, blue, green? It takes away from the story itself.

Harry Osborn's girlfriend, Lily Hollister, has a father who is running for mayor, and a goblin-like adversary called Menace is trashing his campaign. Pete gets a job at the "Front Line" after his firing at the DB. Norman Osborn is security chief for the mayor of NYC, and trashes Peter Parker's apartment and roughs him up, looking for Spider-Man. Since "Brand New day", of course, he no longer knows Peter's secret. One of the team that Osborn throws against Spidey is Bullseye, and an interesting little confrontation it is. Harry confronts his father and rejects him, again, and Lily Hollister makes a play for Peter. Lotsa stuff going on here, lotsa players in the mix, and I'm not really up on all the background. It didn't take long for the Spider-Man re-write to get overly complex.
