Tears, Lies and Alibis marks the first time in Shelby Lynne's long career that she has had complete freedom. This ten-song collection, released on her Everso imprint (through Fontana), was self-written and produced. She recorded it at home in Rancho Mirage, and later in Nashville, where she enlisted help from the cream of the Muscle Shoals crop. Barnes and Noble has an exclusive edition which contains a bonus track entitled "Don't You Know." It is her most intimate and revealing album yet.

As a die-hard Shelby fan I have always been awed by her songwriting, and her ability to make every emotion reach out and grab you. Often though, her words were barely joined by anything other than her guitar. This CD is her best work yet, not only in her marvelous words and flawless singing, but the musicians who join her just bring it up to the nth degree. A perfect blend of words and music and heart. This is a great CD for just quietly reflecting at home, or cruising down the highway with the wind in you hair. If you love Shelby then you must get this, if not this is a perfect introduction to a complete master of musical art. Shelby, you go girl--wait,..listen...is that a Grammy I hear calling?

Although I am a die-hard Shelby fan, this is absolutely her best work ever. This is great for just sitting at home being thoughtful, or cruising through the countryside with the wind in your hair. Her lyrics are always soulful, truthful and beautiful, but this time the music is just superb, the musicians enhancing her efforts to the nth degree. If you are a Shelby fan, don't hesitate---if you aren't then here's your chance to be won over. Do I hear a Grammy calling?

this is a capitol "f" fantastic album. She is finally free from a controlling label and uses that freedom wisely with this album. If you like Bluegrassy country with thoughtful and compelling vocals, this is a great album for you. If you are a fan of Shelby's work, like I am, then this is a MUST HAVE.
