A new author to me, I found myself captivated by this story from the first to the last chapter. Pru and Finn are best friends and after one drunken night of passion, Pru finds herself pregnant. For Pru this is a dream come true, even though it was not how she had planned to conceive. The banter between Pru and Finn, as well as Pru and her partners/room mates was humorous and at times made for some laugh out loud moments. I really enjoyed the relationship that Finn and Pru built based on a firm friendship of many years. Even though it took a lot for them both to realize the feelings that they had for one another. It appears everyone else could see it, except them. Miss communication led to stress and tension at times throughout it all you knew that their friendship would remain intact.Although having said that there were times that I got frustrated with both Pru and Finn. Hopefully the secondary characters will get their own stories as I for one would love to read their stories.

Pru and Finn are the best of friends. She has lost her parent and the aunt who raised after her parents' deaths. Now she is wary of falling in love for fear of losing that person. Her best friend since her youth is Finn, a firefighter. She can't love him because of his dangerous job. She to live life fully, but she can't find a man to love who is "safe" enough to risk loving. She wants to become a mother. She has a plan to fulfill her plan. She has told Finn, and her college-friends, Moira and Lilly, who are also her roomates and business partners, about her plan. But as usually happens, "the best laid plans oft go awry." So the fun begins!

Combining the popular romantic novel plots of a surprise baby and best friends to lovers, this is a sweet story. Add in that the guy is a hunky firefighter and the lady has two super-supportive and loving friends to help her in her pregnancy and romantic questions and you have all the ingredients of a fun romance. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I love a good best friends to lovers story! This one is perfect. The friendship Pru and Finn have is hilarious and strong. I loved their sarcastic banter, the way they could talk about everything, and the way they interacted with his family. Those scenes made my heart smile. The way he looks out for or gets things for her, while she is and us not pregnant, is very special. Finn makes you want a real life one of him. I admired Pru's determination to do single parenting on her own and laughed at All her overly thorough planning. She was a great female lead. And as for them becoming a couple, it always cracks me up in books and movies when the two main characters are the last to realize they have loved each other and meant to be together all along. This is my first book to read by Mariah Ankenman. I look forward to reading more of her books, especially if she writes more in this series. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

Having never read anything by this author before, when it popped up on my radar I decided to give it a whirl. It was a great friends to lovers romance involving 3 besties that formed a special bond as roommates in college and remained roommates now and Pru and her hot fire fighter best friend Finn. Who knew one night of hot steamy sex could end up with more than they asked for? Plenty of laugh out loud moments, especially the breast pump in the baby shop one for me! one, and lots of love and tenderness. You can't go wrong with The Best Friend Problem. Thanks to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for introducing me to this wonderful author. This review is my own opinion.

Not having read other books by the author before, I didn’t know what to expect before reading The Best Friend Problem. Needless to say, this friends-to-lovers story had me rooting for the characters from beginning to end. In the story we get to meet, Prudence Carlson, a wedding planner who hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to men. Her last serious relationship ended after the guy moved cross country and she has then sworn off men altogether. With her wedding planning business becoming successful, she is ready to take another step in life by becoming a mother. Since it’s the twenty-first century, she is able to take matters into her own hands and now has to pick the perfect candidate for her baby. But the hardest person to tell about her plans is non other than her best guy friend, Finn. Having met in the seventh grade, they have been though ups and downs. He has seen her at her best and lows, and she is scared of what he is going to say about her new plans. But things turn out differently the minute they decide to get drunk and cross the line they never expected to. This ultimately leads her to finding out that she is pregnant and she doesn’t know what Finn is going to say. He is always on the go with his job and one-night stands, which he prefers so telling him about the baby might end up hurting their friendship. Needless to say, she is surprised to see him ready to help her right away. She never expected to be pregnant with her best friend’s baby and the idea of co-parenting is not appealing to her at all. Until he starts to change everything around her and she wonders if they might just be meant for each other after all. Finn Jamison loves his job, as a firefighter he is able to help those in need, but it is also demanding and he is not always home. He understands the risks that come with his job and will never wish to have a family suffer if anything were to happen to him. So he stays away from those are looking for more and turns to his one-night stands instead. The only constant woman in his life is his best friend, Pru and he couldn’t be happier about that. They’ve known each other for so long and have promised to rescue each other if one is in trouble. But everything changes the minute she tells him that she wants to be a mom, he knows that she is going to be a great parent and they go celebrate. Only that ends up turning their life upside down when she finds out that she is pregnant with his child. He never wanted to be a father, but he is her best friend and will do anything for her including letting her be a solo parent. But the more time he spends with her, the more he stars to see the future that they could have together. I very much enjoyed reading this book, the chemistry between the characters is undeniable and sweet. It’s evident that each of them have obstacles to overcome and the author did a great job with the story as a whole. I liked Pru’s independence, but that very same thing is what is blinding her from leaning on Finn for support. She wants to do things her own way and that doesn’t always work out. On the other hand, Finn is scared of leaving a family behind if something were to happen to him. He has seen that happen and he is shocked to hear that he is going to be a father. Throughout the story we get to see them change and go through ups and downs that ultimate decide their fate. I would highly recommend checking out The Best Friend Problem. It will leave you wanting for more. :)

I honestly love Best Friend-to-Lovers trope. This one has a bit of a different take on it. Neither of them actually had true feelings towards the other. Sure, as human beings and attractive ones, there was attraction but the only feelings they had and had admitted to each other was that of friendship. Which had worked out great for them. There was no complications with their relationship. Pru, though, from the beginning was the one putting any and all brakes on any advancement in any direction. She was, however, completely serious about her becoming a mother. She was completely set on doing it by herself. She did all the calculations and all the logistics about becoming pregnant. Pru did not bank on acting on the lustful feelings towards her best friend and therefore becoming pregnant. She handled it pretty well until Finn wanted to get involved more. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with that seeing as how it takes two to tango, so to speak, and Finn was willing. That was my big hiccup with the whole book is the fact that despite knowing how much work babies are, Pru wasn’t willing to accept help from Finn. I thought she was being really really stupid. How stubborn must you be before accepting help with babies!! As a single mother! I am not disparaging the amazing job single mothers do but I am almost 100% positive that if there was willing hands and people to help with raising their children, they would accept it. Besides that, The Best Friend Problem, was a joy to read and I loved it.

Absolute fun with a heaping splash of romance and a touch of.... I adored this book in the best way. Familiar trope however Mariah brings this gem a touch of sparkle and genuine love between two best friends, Finn and Pru. Pru lives life by a schedule, she's a numbers girl. In business with her two best friends who I absolutely loved, they bring so much to the story. Pru is ready to have a baby and has all her ducks lined up, complete with narrowing down her donor choices and of course her finances. She's kept this all to herself, so when the time comes to make the final donor decision, she finally tells her two best friends. Let the games begin! Her friends are super supportive and then there's the bigger question, have you told Finn yet? Finn and Pru have been friends since they were kids, tell each other everything and are always there for each other. Pru's nervous about telling Finn and so she sucks it up and finally tells him. Finn is a true book boyfriend. What a dream this guy is! Finn is a firefighter and while he has the occasional interlude, doesn't want that bigger step, fearing that if something happened to him on the job.... and he's Pru's best friend. So hearing the news from Pru, Finn gets a little jolt. The two have always been attracted to one another but neither wanting to ruin the friendship have never acted on it. Until that one night. What a night it was! When Pru goes in to the clinic for her exam and ready to go ahead with her insemination she gets the surprise of her life. Once again, carefully scheduled and planned Pru is thrown off track. She has to tell her friends and worse, she has to tell Finn. She's pregnant. Finn's response is priceless as is her friends. Going to the Dr for her check up, Finn is there with her wanting to be a support to "I can do it all, I don't need any help" Pru. Again another mind boggling surprise and the story really hits the outer orbits of space from there. I loved watching these two find their places and their relationship unfold. Absolutely loved it. This is a fantastic and fun read, full of love, amazing characters and surprises! The writing is perfection and Mariah pulls you right into their story and doesn't let go until the very end. I am so hoping to see more of Lily and Mo in future books! It's a 5 star must read! arc from Net Galley and Entangled for an honest review

I really enjoyed The Best Friend Problem by Mariah Ankenman who is a new author to me. I definitely plan to check out her other books. This story has loads of chemistry, plenty of laughs, lighthearted and very low on the angst. It's a best friends to lovers with the twist of a surprise baby, which I loved! I really enjoyed Mariah Ankenman's writing style, character development, my favourite romance is friends to lovers, it's part of a series but a standalone and has a HEA. It was the perfect summer read! "I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review."

Author Beth Ankenman delivers nicely with her new release, THE BEST FRIEND PROBLEM. Lighthearted, humorous, and sexy, with plenty of sweet and tender moments mixed in, this book was a delight to read, and a good take on the friends-to-lovers trope. Pru and Finn know each other so well and are so comfortable with each other that it's an almost easy step over the 'friends only' line, and the affection and growing feelings that they develop for each other as events unfold make for the perfect segue to an HEA. The fact that both characters are likable, intelligent, and actual adults with real adult lives made this book even more enjoyable, and, if events are prettier than they might be in real life, well, this is a romance, after all. A strong cast of supporting characters, a cute as a button fur baby, and an entertaining and heartwarming storyline made this book a pleasure to read, and one that is an easy recommendation to fans of sweet and steamy romances with an ending that will ensure a smile.

The Best Friend Problem by new to me author Mariah Ankenman, is a cute best friends to lovers romance. The cover and book blurb called out to me, since I truly enjoy stories about accidental pregnancies, firefighters, and independent women. The two main characters, wedding planner Prudence Carlson, and firefighter Finn Jamison, have been best friends for years. Pru always wanted to be a mother, while Finn never wanted to burden a wife or family with the dangers of his profession. One night of passion between the two evolves in babies, love and forever. I liked this story, however, I found the pace to be a little slow, and the plot to be a bit repetitive. Pru and Finn are a unique pair, and their sexy times are hot. Lil and Mo, Pru's roommates and business partners, are a trip, and I hope they each get their own story. Furthermore, the three of them together reminded me of "The Golden Girls" sitcom, when the women would sit around the table devouring a cheesecake, while discussing the problems of the day. Overall, a fair read. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

Not only was this a fun quick read it was also such a sweet romantic story. Pru and Finn have been best friends since high school. Pru has no family left and she is feeling all alone in the world so she decides to get artificial inseminated so she can become a mother. One night she and Finn consume too much alcohol and one thing leads to another and they fall into bed together. From this one night Pru becomes pregnant. Reading about how they try and navigate this new path and all their new feelings is so much fun to read. I could not put this book down. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Best Friend Problem by Mariah Ankenman a five-star read that will support you. I adored this one, I haven’t read this author before, but I will be looking out in the future for as what great, funny writing. Finn was just adorable and dedicated to his job saving people. Pru was brilliant, her and the girls have a plan and they are sticking to it, I would happily have them plan my next wedding, I can just imagine it up the mountain in the sunshine but high enough there is some breeze. Throw in a determination to have a cute little baby and what a great story you have. I can’t wait for more from this author.

This is an enjoyable friends to lovers novel. Pru is hearing her biological clock ticking loudly and desperately wants a baby, even though she's not in a relationship. Finn never wants a wife or children and is Pru's best friend. As Pru waits for her artificial insemination, she and Finn cross a boundary they've never gone near before. Predictably, at her doctor's appointment, rather than learn she's read for insemination, she learns she's already pregnant. The characters are likable, however they didn't really resonate with me and I had difficulty connecting with them. I have no idea why, as the characters are well thought out and developed. Additionally, the first part of the book seemed to drag to me. It seemed to take too long for the set up and for it to get to the "meat" of the story. However, once it got to the heart of the story, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Fans of the genre will enjoy this book and will want to add it to your TBR list.
