Overview

David Strudwick, M.D. was a noted cardiologist and icon within organized medicine. As a member of the board of governors of the American Medical Association he was also a man of considerable political influence. His son Chip was the heir apparent to what was planned would become a medical dynasty. There was only problem - after meeting and being treated successfully by a beautiful female chiropractor - he decided to become one himself. This became the the ultimate form of professional and family treason. David Strudwick's son - a quack.

Chip can't be deterred and goes to a chiropractic college. It becomes a sobering experience as he's exposed to the brilliance of his teachers and the depth of science of the profession he is studying to embark upon. Unfortunately he is also exposed to the quackery of some of the professions scam artists and charlatans. Disillusioned, Chip still continues his studies and finally graduates and returns to his home in California.

He tries to rekindle his romance with the girl who inspired him to become a chiropractor but the results are disastrous and leads to her suicide. With his life falling apart his mother comes to his office seeking help with a heart problem, preferring a more conservative approach to that of his father. Before he can advise her she passes away and Chip's father decides to exact revenge.

A story filled with lust, hatred and revenge. Based in part on actual events it's a story about a revenge which no counsel or court could resolve.

About the Author

The author began working as an actor when he was seven years old. For the next twenty six years he starred in films, radio, television and the theater where he appeared on Broadway several times. In his last appearance he starred in the title role and won numerous awards and was insured for millions of dollars.

When he married he realized the caprice of show business and its effect on family life. He decided to try his hand at writing and soon was editing physical culture journals and became internationally known as one of the premier authors of articles on strength and bodybuilding. A collection of some of his works has been published in the book "West Coast Bodybuilding Scene - the Golden Era". A serious trainer himself he held a purported world record in strength.

It was his interest physical culture and the natural health sciences that led him to become a chiropractic physician. During his over forty years in the chiropractic profession he has been on the Vermont Board of Chiropractic Examination and Registration and was the former chairman of the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners. He has lectured around the country on conservative health care, edited "The Chiropractic Family Physician" been the associate editor of "Dynamic Chiropractic" and authored a well received text entitled "Alternative Chiropractic". For over a year he practiced in an medical practice which gave him a unique perspective on the intense professional and emotional war between organized medicine and chiropractic. The result is his novel "The Caduceus Coin" based in part on actual events.
