As with The Cat of Christmas Past and The Cat of Christmas present, while this holiday cozy features a mystery, it does not feature a murder.

It is Christmas on Madrona Island and the spirit of Christmas is out in full force. A cat who looks a lot like a cat from Cait's past comes to visit just as Cait and Cody are getting ready for a full lineup of holiday events. When Cait learns of the cat's true purpose for coming into her life she realizes she will need to set some of her usual routines aside in order to prevent a tragedy from occurring in the future.

Meanwhile the entire Hart Family is gathering at Maggie's as a series of personal events causes each of member of the family to seek temporary refuge in the large house.

In this 14th book of the series a new man arrives in town and buys some property, he lets it be known that the people who have taken up residence there will be removed and in a quick fashion. Cait being the passionate person she is can't let these people be thrown out of the street so she sets out trying to find ways to help all those in need. With a family who needs help, several jobless people, and a young pregnant girl, she realizes she has her work cut out for her. Will she be able to find solutions for everyone? What if someone doesn't want her help? When a cat named Harley shows up Cait finds out just how much helping the young pregnant girl means. Follow along as Cait brings her family and friends along to help those in need and shows you what the holiday season is truly about. This book was filled with the loving spirit of Christmas and a mystery that didn't involve murder. I appreciated that murder didn't have to be involved for there to be a great mystery to solve. I look forward to meeting the next cat and seeing where it leads Cait!

With each new cat, Cait is set on a quest to solve a mystery and unite the cat with a new owner. But this holiday season is different. The Ebenezer look-alike appears to be here to set its new owner on the right path...a path that will effect both his own success and potentially future technology. This is a fun cozy mystery series with characters that have a sense of family and community responsibility. I love how each story advances the deepening relationship between Cait and Cory. I look forward to more stories in this series.

This is a great series, and I always look forward to reading the newest release. This is the fourteenth book in the series, and also the end of a trilogy of sorts: The Cat Of Christmas Past, The Cat of Christmas Present, and The Cat Of Christmas Future. In those three books, there is a holiday themed mystery, but no murder. I think this is the first time I have read a mystery where a person's future is at stake, based on the decisions made by others in the present. The Hart family is very much present throughout the story, as are the usual supporting characters. I love the way relationships grow and change in this makes them that much more realistic. And, as usual in this series, there is a cat that plays a major part in drawing the right people together and finding the clues to solve the mystery.

“The Cat of Christmas Future” earns 5+/5 Delightful Déjà vu Detectives! Kathi Daley’s Whales and Tales Mystery series is one of my ‘top ten’ favorites, especially during the holidays. Caitlyn Hart again is excited, aren’t we all, about the upcoming Christmas festivities: family gatherings and lots of Yuletide cheer. But she didn’t expect the accident on the highway, and her brother Aiden in the hospital. Kathi’s signature style always puts family and friends front and center, and while they are helping Aiden recover, Cait is approached by another delightful and mysterious cat. Is that you, Ebenezer? Fans know well about the little twists and clever cozy mysteries, but newbies should not shy away from the paranormal bit. It all works. The curious appearance of these cats and Tansy, the cat whisperer, is a clever and fun way to explain Cait’s working with and talking to ‘fur’ friends delighting my inner animal lover. “Meow!” “The Cat of Christmas Future” revisits some of the first Christmas story, “The Cat of Christmas Past,” and newbies should be aware of a couple of spoilers making it important to point out that one might want to start with reading book one. That also explains why Cait herself is struck by ‘déjà vu jingling’ which eerily is reminiscent of events two years ago. Back then tenants were looking at homelessness courtesy of a curmudgeon landlord, and today a warehouse full of illegal squatters are facing the holidays on the street due to the demands the new owner is making to start renovations immediately. Cait and boyfriend Cody find a remedy by arranging housing for the dozen or so squatters, but Cait is taken with the young pregnant girl offering her temporary employment at the Coffee Cat Books, a place to stay, and even help to try and locate the baby’s father. As details become clearer and very engaging and additional events unfold, Cait, Cody, and friends and family work to bring a merry Christmas to everyone.

The Cat of Christmas Future is the 14th book in Kathi Daley’s wonderful series - Whales and Tales Cozy Mystery. Caitlin Hart and her fiancé Cody West are busy preparing for Christmas on Madrona Island. They are directing the children’s choir, preparing for a huge Christmas Eve dinner. They are also beginning to plan their future together. A developer comes to town and plans to tear down a wharehouse to build homes on the island. And there are homeless people living in the building. Cait and Cody quickly jump in to help the people find a new place to live. The take care of this quickly except for a young pregnant girl that Cait and her best friend Tara give a place to stay and a job in their business during Christmas. Willow slowly opens up to the girls. And a new at shows up to help. Actually a cat that looks exactly like Ebeneezer that has helped them before. Let me just mention that the cats on Madrona Island have magical powers and they often help solve murders and find missing people. Cait depends on Tansy for information on why the cat has arrived. The new cat Harley quickly is attached to Willow. Willow tells the girls that she is on Madrona Island to look for the father of her baby so he can sign the papers so the baby can be adopted. And so Cait and Cody take on the task of finding the missing father. Will everything get done before Christmas? A wonderful story with loving, kind, and helping people. Kathi Daley has written another charming cozy mystery.
