The play "the Crimson Island" was written basing on the satirical feuilleton of the same name. This brilliant political pamphlet represented all the events, taking place in Russia starting from the February Revolution. Using the characters' names from Jules Verne and Kipling's works, the author skillfully depicted the most striking political figures of that time with peculiar to him inimitable sarcasm. It is not surprising, that during Bulgakov's life this play was not published.
