New York Times bestselling author Joanne DeMaio returns to seaside Stony Point in this novel filled with beach friends, love, and the enchantment of a sandy boardwalk winding along the shore.

During two August weeks, denim designer Maris Carrington and coastal architect Jason Barlow prepare for their much-anticipated wedding. Guests arrive early, turning keys in charming cottage doors to begin their New England summer escape. The wedding is a reason for old friends to gather again; to meet in their shabby beach hangout and get the jukebox cranking; to walk that weathered boardwalk beneath a starry sky; to breathe the sweet salt air. "Cures what ails you," one of the friends, Neil, always said long before his life was sadly claimed. But his legacy was not.

When Maris discovers Neil's long-lost journal, its passages reveal a heartbreaking secret. Can truths be found within its timeworn pages? Can this leather-bound journal unite the friends as their lives begin to fray? A bittersweet family reunion, a surprising encounter from a devastating accident, a shocking confession leaving one marriage shattered--all will test the once close-knit circle. Suddenly this safe haven on the tranquil Connecticut shoreline churns with emotional turmoil, threatening even the beach wedding just days before it is to happen.

Yet like a silver cap on a breaking wave, love and friendship wash ashore with hope, ever shimmering, in The Denim Blue Sea.

As we gather in Stony Point, Connecticut, with the characters of The Denim Blue Sea, we are reminded of their histories, along with their secrets and flaws. There will be a wedding between two beloved residents of the community: Maris Carrington, a denim designer, and Jason Barlow, an architect who renovates cottages. Friends and family from all around will come together for the event. As we watch the friends gather, like Kyle and Lauren, and Matt and Eva, we see the connections between them and feel the camaraderie…and as we follow them through the days at the beach, we can almost literally smell the sweet salt air. Like the waves beneath the sea, there is an undercurrent of secrets, some of which will surface. Will the friendships survive? Will each of them find a way to repair the damage of the past? I enjoyed Maris, from a previous book, and love how she had found her sister Eva. Elsa, the aunt from Italy, brings a wonderful sense of the lost mother, just in time for the wedding. Central to the community and the lives of the friends is Foley’s, the battered up beach shack where they all convened as teenagers; it brought some of my own memories to light. Mine were not on a beach, but another kind of place where everyone gathered…those are the moments that help us remember who we are. At the heart of some of the angst, as well as some of the connections, is Jason’s brother, Neil, who died too soon. His legacy includes those he left behind, and an old battered journal that contains some secrets of its own. Will his friends be able to move beyond the pain? Will Jason find creative energy within the pages of the journal as he begins a very special project? I love how the author brings us right into the setting until we can smell the sweet salt air, the scent of the hydrangeas, and see the seashells they gather. I can feel the friendship, too, and the pain of conflicts that test the strength of their bonds. Another wonderful and memorable story that earned 5 stars.

It's been a year since we first met this group of friends in Joanne's story Blue Jeans and Coffee Beans. One year later, they are all gathering in Stony Point to celebrate the marriage of Maris and Jason. The friends went through a lot a year ago but this is a happy time now. But it's also a time of reflection and for missing those loved ones who are gone. I love the character of Maris, the bride in this story. She is such a kind, loving woman. She is also a blue jeans designer and finds her inspiration in the water and waves. I have never been to the ocean but because of the beautiful way that Joanne writes the scenes, I feel like I am there. I experience the sounds, I can see the waves, and I can almost smell and taste the salt air. I am there and I am totally experiencing the ocean. It is so relaxing and beautiful. I know that the author spends a lot of time around the water and beaches and her love of those things come through in her stories. And a wonderful thing that Joannes does in her books is to take characters and places from her other novels and weave them into her new stories. As I was reading this one, I recognized a few characters from Snowflakes and Coffee Cakes. What a nice surprise! Her stories are connected in a way that makes everything feel so familiar, like a group of friends showing up when you weren't expecting to see them. I am so thankful that I was asked to read Joanne's first book, Whole Latte Life, way back when. I have read every single one of her books since and I love them all so much. Her stories are always so touching and emotional. When I start one of her books, I know I will get wrapped up in the wonderful world she has created. Thank you, Joanne, for another amazing story!

This is the 2nd in the Stony Point Series by Joanne DeMaio. This was a fantastic read. It continues the story of the beach town of Stony Point and the group of friends who live there. It tells the tale of family, love, marriage, life issues, and especially dealing with grief. Joanne's descriptions of everything made me feel like I was there, experiencing everything her characters were along with her descriptions of the beach and stars. I laughed and shed a few tears along the way. I've now completed the first three books and now I can't wait to read the rest of them. Love, love, love Stony Point. Beach Breeze, you're next. Keep writing about Stony Point Joanne.

It's so good to be back at Stony Point with Maris and Jason and all of their friends. This book focuses on the wedding of Maris and Jason, but is filled with all sorts of twists and surprises that just kept me turning the pages. It is written so beautifully, and with such deep emotion, that it had me laughing and in tears. I truly enjoy the writing of Joanne DeMaio. I can't wait to read the next book in her series.

I loved this story!! The author sweeps us back to the fictional town of Stony Point, CT. where once  again I could feel the breeze, the warm sunshine on my face, smell the sweet salt air,  feel the sand and ocean on my feet.  I felt like I was reunited with old friends at the beach.  Maris, Jason, Eva, Matt, Lauren and Kyle are beach friends from their younger days.  At present Maris has returned from being away for 14 years.  It was almost like they has never parted.  Maris and Jason have recently gotten engaged and are planning their upcoming wedding. Kyle bought a local dinner and keeps busy with running it. Lauren is still dabbling in producing art pieces while being a full time mom and homemaker.  Eva is still selling real estate and her husband Matt works as a state policeman.  As the story opens we find Maris beyond stressed at trying to keep tract of everything that's going on, her upcoming wedding and the design of her new line of denim.  Jason is trying to help with the wedding preparations while looking for new inspiration for his designs. Suddenly life hits them in the face.  Maris is upset with a new project Jason is taking on, Jason is still plagued with memories of the accident that took his brother Neil from him.  Kyle thinks his marriage is on the right tract with Lauren until he overhears her telling a secret she has been keeping from him.   The author's ability to weave words together is amazing.  I was immediately drawn into this drama and couldn't put the book down.  The characters and setting immediately come to life.  The characters are easy to love. These engaging characters are complex and have real issues.  The emotions displayed are both real and raw.  I could feel both their fear and joy. There are twists and turns that no one expects. This story has elements of betrayal, love, forgiveness, sweet memories, romantic tension, and friendship.  This is a book I would recommend to anyone who loves a good romance or drama.  I have to admit these stories of Stony Point are addicting to read.  Every time I read one I want another.  **I received this book from the author.  I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts or opinions are entirely my own.

The Denim Blue Sea is a fantastic beach read, but with a heart and soul that sets it apart from the rest. In this story we return to Stony Point, reuniting with characters we came to know and love in Blue Jeans and Coffee Beans. The coastal town is filled with love and friendship, preparing for the wedding of Maris and Jason. But both Maris and Jason are dealing with old wounds, the pain of missing loved ones who they'd always pictured standing with them on their wedding day. The love stories in this book are genuine, as Maris and Jason, and other couples as well, deal with secrets and pain that threaten their happiness. As always, the setting of Stony Point is a big part of the story; the beach, the boardwalk, the weather-worn cottages that line the shore. Although this book is a sequel, this book can truly stand on its own. The author does a great job of providing back story without taking away from the current story. If you haven't read the other books about the lovely group of friends who reside in Stony Point, I encourage you to do so!

Joanne DeMaio has another 5 star book in The Denim Blue Sea! This is her fifth book, and I’ve loved every one of them. This book takes place at the beach and has a beautiful cover. Anyone who knows me knows that my favorite place to be is at the beach, so this book was very comforting for me to read. There were parts in the book that were sad, but overall it was a feel good read that would be perfect for reading at the beach. I always love catching up with characters that I loved in previous books, and we see a few of the characters like Maris and Jason form True Blend in this book, as well as a few others from her other books. This book is full of wonderful relationships and friends that are there for you no matter what they’re dealing with in their personal lives. Along with the friendships, there is also secrets, love, revelations and lots of happy times as well as sad times. There’s a lot going on, but it’s very easy to follow. So many emotions are within this book. The words draw you in your mind to Stoney Point and there you’ll stay, at the beach, among friends. I recommend this book, as well as DeMaio’s other books 100% and can’t wait for her next one.

Dollycas’s Thoughts Maris and Jason are getting married and they and all their friends are still mourning the loss of Jason’s brother Neil. Neil is the one that should be standing next to Jason as his best man and there beside him as plans are made. There is much more to this extremely moving story but Neil does play a crucial part in several of the subplots. The real key to the whole story is friendship and these characters are written so well they become real to the reader incredibly fast. The Sea becomes a character all its own and effects each character in a profound way from its smell making things better and bringing back memories to its color painting pictures and giving Maris ideas for her designs to the waves mimicking life in its calmness or turbulent sides. I also loved all the hydrangeas blooming at the time the story was set. I could almost smell their scent and that of the sea from the pages of the book. As always Joanne DeMaio has written an extraordinary story that will stay with you long after your turn the last page.

his is my fifth book by Joanne DeMaio. It definitely is my favorite. I love the beach, the friendships, and the romance. I love that it included some drama, lots of love, and a ton of great conversations. The friendships in this book are the best. No matter what was happening in their lives these friends are there for each other, no questions asked and nothing expected in return. They listen to the good, the bad, and the funny never passing judgment. Maris and Jason are both people with deep histories. They both have dealt with loss of extremely important people in their lives and this impacts them every day. I enjoyed seeing them lean on each other, share their feelings with each other, and show their love. They have the relationship that will certainly withstand time and only get stronger as it goes on. I cannot stress enough how much everyone needs to go get their copy of The Denim Blue Sea. It is a story with will pull you away from your everyday life and pull you into the life of Maris, Jason, and all their friends.

The Denim Blue Sea by Joanne DeMaio gave me a wonderful chance to catch up with all my old friends from Blue Jeans and Coffee Beans.  First of all I must say that cover makes me want to go visit some water. Isn't it pretty? It looks so calm and peaceful. Just looking at the cover makes me feel salt air and mist from the water on my face. Maris Carrington and Jason Barlow are preparing for the arrival of their long time friends and family members to attend their beach wedding. Everyone is busy with work, planning the wedding, and life. When everyone starts to arrive things get even more complicated and busy. My goodness there is a lot going on in Stony Point. One of my favorite things about this book is the storyline of the great friendship between this group of friends that has lasted through the years. They grew up together and now some are raising families of their own, other's are getting married, and everyone is busy. However they still take the time out to get together and enjoy this treasured friendship. Maris and Jason have a few stressful moments before the wedding. There are some things that are trying to pull them apart and a big surprise client that may or may not have a huge effect on Jason's life. I enjoyed watching this loving couple grow, and change as they plan ahead for their wedding and their married life together. They do have a few things to over come and there are challenges thrown in their path.  Maris is busy with her new line of Denim designs. I can just imagine some of the fabulous designs she creates with Ms. DeMaio's wonderful descriptions. I'd love to wear some of the things Maris designs.  Kyle and Lauren face a major trauma to their marriage. It seems like this poor couple has been through so much. Just when they think they have their relationship back on even ground something else happens to try to rip them apart. These two have so much to deal with. My heart broke for them when a huge secret is reveled that just about ends their marriage. I won't tell you what it is but I will tell you it's a biggie.   The thing I love about this deep friendship in this group is that they are there for each other. When one is in need of a friend to lean on, they can count on the group to be there to help them deal with what ever the problem is or just talk.  Maris and Eva also receive a HUGE surprise guest. I don't want to tell you who it is but I will tell you I really enjoyed getting to know their guest.  There is so much happening in Stony Point with all of these wonderful people I have come to consider friends. I was so afraid that their lives were going to be tore apart and lost at sea. I cried for each trauma and obstacle they faced and cheered for each victory they discovered. Just when things were really bad and their lives were falling apart , the tide changed and the sea came in to close the gaps and wounds in everyone and  mend their hearts just in the nick of time.  JoAnne DeMaio has once again written a fabulous story with those great charismatic charters that I have grown so fond of. I delighted to see everyone again and to visit Foley's. I certainly enjoyed my return visit to Stony Point. I always enjoy the fascinating journeys that Ms. DeMaio takes me on with descriptive tales.  I will be anxious to see where she takes me with her next book and what fabulous characters I'm going to get to meet or visit with again. I always love to hear that Joanne DeMaio has a new book coming soon. I get really excited and I can not wait to get my hands on the book. She does such a great job of dealing with such heart whelming, sometimes heartbreaking, but always wonderful storylines with great characters that touch your heart. Her books are always an awesome read! I was given the opportunity to read this great book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on The Denim Blue Sea.

Author Joanne DeMaio has a unique writing style that flows rhythmically drawing the reader deeper into the story with the turn of each page. Her latest release, THE DENIM BLUE SEA, is a perfect example of her writing method. Friends gather at seaside Stony Point of Long Island South for the wedding of denim designer Maris Carrington and architect Jason Barlow. As with most weddings, all does not go smoothly. Maris and Jason are faced with tough choices as they draw closer to their wedding day. Several members of the wedding party are also confronted with their own problems prior to the wedding. The family and friends come together to help the couple realize their dream. The ups and downs along the way to the alter makes for an even sweeter ending. A long-lost journal enhances the story through adding character depth and insight. The author’s vivid descriptions and eye for detail places the reader in the middle of the activities. Readers can almost feel the sand under their feet as the story unfolds. An intriguing romance blended with bits of humor, suspense, and inspiration makes this a well-balanced story. The characters are well-developed, likable and realistic. The mix of different careers and personalities makes for an engaging group that readers can relate to. THE DENIM BLUE SEA is a feel-good story that will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. The ride will entertain, inspire and cause you to smile a time or two as you quickly turn the pages to discover what happens. FTC Full Disclosure – A copy of this book was sent to me by the author in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review. The thoughts are completely my own and given honestly and freely.

Denim blue sea by Joanne DeMaio Love the author's previous works and when I heard of this new one I knew it'd be another good read and I was right. Like this one right from the start as I live near the ocean and it has a calming effect on me. Can't seem to get enough of the scent either when we return home from travels around the US. This book is about a couple that is to be married at Stony Point, CT and all their friends have over the years, summered there as well so it' s natural they come together. Also an aunt of the bride was invited-from Italy. There are many wedding gettogethers and unplanned ones as well. We get to meet not only the main characters but their friends, spouses and kids. Memories of past summers also make an appearance to not only understand the secrets that are coming out but the lives of the people mixed in with their current lives. Love how it's like a jigsaw puzzle as the pieces are all fitting together and at times you wonder if there will be a wedding at all. Journals from his dead brother all but the one he really needs... Jobs and careers are an added plus here for me as both are made to sound so interesting and creative and there are so many details described. Love learning new things! So many emotions, lost of loved ones, gaining new family members, wedding prep and teamwork amongst friends. Reminds me of a happily ever after book but with the twists there is heartache and pain and happiness. Love how the characters all interact with one another over the years and seem at ease with everyone. Fun loving bunch of people wish I had this bunch for my friends. Love this book the best by the author and can't wait for other books. I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I feel this author knows how to write but her stories are all the same. Boring, cookie cutter. If you've read one you've read them all.
