The Formula (Monthly Edition) is a new series that looks into the lyrics of the month's featured artist and one of their important albums, if not the most important.
To give you an idea of what is covered in each edition of The Formula, here is a small list of what you can expect to find in each edition;
•Color Coded Rhyme Schemes/To make the rhymes and the writing of each artist stand out, each rhyme is highlighted, with the lyrics taking centre stage.
•Creation Of The Song/A quick dive into the creation of each song before looking at the lyrics, from when the song was recorded, to the producer, to the features, to the different versions of the song that were created.
•The Beat/Where the samples came from that made the song or what parts of the instrumental were used to make the song stand out that much more.
•Info/Explanation of the slang used, explanation of the references, an insight into the artists that may be featured along with what the lyrics are trying to say (without trying to reach too much).
•Pieces/To get the most out of listening, TF seeks to give you the backstory of the featured artist, as well giving you an idea as to what their life, the world and the music era was like during their recording process. Plus, small think pieces will be featured, along with some small bonus content.
•*Most of the Monthly Editions (as well as the Weekly Formula, only on Instagram) centres around Hip-Hop, though there will be exceptions from time to time.

So if you have always wanted to listen to a particular album or artist but you've been putting it off, well now's the best time for you to do it, with TF to help you get the most out of your listening experience.
TF is made for those who might have just gotten into Hip-Hop or for those who may want to revisit the classics. For those who are a fan of seeing rhyme schemes and understanding why they chose certain words or how they make certain rhymes sound amazing. For those who English may not be their first language, this will break down some of the slang and references you might have a hard time catching or for those who want to increase their Hip Hop knowledge.
So what are you waiting for? Get the first ever issue of The Formula, get the album that's being featured and firstly, listen to some good music before reading up more on the album.

*Patreon will be launched in November 2018. The Weekly Formula, only on Instagram where one song's rhymes will be colour coded, will begin starting the 4th of November (2018.)

For the first Edition of The Formula, we'll be diving deep into the world of the 'Poor & Dangerous', in other words, the first album of Harlem M.C. Big L (Lamont Coleman).
Big L was an MC from Harlem who showed skill, writing, delivery, flow, whatever makes a great MC you name it, that would have probably put him into the higher echelons of Hip Hop, had it not been for his life being taken in 1999.
In what little time Big L had, he collaborated with famed group D.I.T.C. (Diggin' In The Crates) released a classic underground single, worked with Fat Joe, Cam'ron, Mase, Jay-Z, Lord Finesse and many more, as well as releasing what is considered by many to be a classic album (the sole one released during his lifetime) Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous.
The Formula wants to help show you the world that Big L depicted, what brought him to do it and more especially, the lessons, both good and bad, that can be learned from living in such a situation and how against all odds, L fought and sought a better life out of 139th Lennox, The Danger Zone.
