Overview

James Patterson's strongest team since the Women's Murder Club are the first responders when their seafront town is targeted by vicious criminals.
The Inn at Gloucester stands alone on the rocky shoreline. Its seclusion suits former Boston police detective Bill Robinson, novice owner and innkeeper. As long as the dozen residents pay their rent, Robinson doesn't ask any questions. Neither does Sheriff Clayton Spears, who lives on the second floor.
Then Mitchell Cline arrives, with a deadly new way of doing business. His crew of local killers break laws, deal drugs, and bring violence to the doors of the Inn. That's when Robinson realizes, with the help of journalist Susan Solie, that leaving the city is no escape from the reality of evil -- or the responsibility for action.
Teaming up with Sheriff Spears and two fearless residents -- Army veteran Nick Jones and groundskeeper Effie Johnson -- Robinson begins a risky defense. The solitary inhabitants of the Inn will have to learn, before time runs out, that their only choice is between standing together -- or dying alone.

i finally finished this book. not because it was good, it wasn't. i finished it because i bought it, and because i kept thinking it would get better, it didnt. there were characters i ddnt get close to, and bad guys that were inhumane. im sorry to say that i would never recommend this book.

Have read 99% of Patterson's mystery books and co-authored, and by far, one of the worst. Only kept reading to see if it got better. It did not!! If other reviews had been posted before purchase, I would not have wasted my money. All I can say is that it was totally a huge disappointment.

Smartest bad guy ever. Dumbest top cop ever. Burned out ex cop. Former soldier with ptsd. Beautiful teenage girl soon to be in peril. Not sure if I will finish this book. Fox has done better in the past.

Beginning the book as it did felt as I missed something that was in a previous book, an insider's knowledge of the characters. The book would have been better served if we knew Bill Robinson better.

Over 20 years ago James Patterson was a great writer with his Alex Cross novels. Now he has become a joke cause he plastered his name on novels with mediocre writers who does the real writing. James Patterson has become the Milli Vanilli of authors. He does a great disservice to writers and gets away with it cause of his mindless fans who will buy every book.
