Overview

#1 New York Times Bestseller • #1 USA Today Bestseller • #1 Wall Street Journal Bestseller

Now you see her.  Now you don’t.  THE NEW GIRL.  A thriller of deception, betrayal, and vengeance.

She was covered from head to toe in expensive wool and plaid, the sort of stuff one saw at the Burberry boutique in Harrods. She carried a leather bookbag rather than a nylon backpack. Her patent leather ballet slippers were glossy and bright. She was proper, the new girl, modest. But there was something else about her

At an exclusive private school in Switzerland, mystery surrounds the identity of the beautiful raven-haired girl who arrives each morning in a motorcade fit for a head of state. She is said to be the daughter of a wealthy international businessman. In truth, her father is Khalid bin Mohammed, the much-maligned crown prince of Saudi Arabia. Once celebrated for his daring social and religious reforms, he is now reviled for his role in the murder of a dissident journalist. And when his only child is brutally kidnapped, he turns to the one man he can trust to find her before it is too late.

What’s done cannot be undone …

Gabriel Allon, the legendary chief of Israeli intelligence, has spent most of his life fighting terrorists, including the murderous jihadists financed by Saudi Arabia. Prince Khalid—or KBM, as he is known—has pledged to finally break the bond between the Kingdom and radical Islam. For that reason alone, Gabriel regards him as a valuable if flawed partner. Together they will become unlikely allies in a deadly secret war for control of the Middle East. The life of a child, and the throne of Saudi Arabia, hang in the balance. Both men have made their share of enemies. And both have everything to lose.

Filled with dark humor, breathtaking twists of plot, and an unforgettable cast of characters, The New Girl is both a thrilling, page-turning tale of entertainment and a sophisticated study of political alliances and great-power rivalries in a dangerous world. And it is once again proof that Gabriel Allon is “one of fiction’s greatest spies” (Kirkus) and Daniel Silva is “quite simply the best” (Kansas City Star) writer of foreign intrigue and suspense at work today.

What's not to love about Silva's new spy novel! Have to wait a year to maybe see how the final scene plays out. Thank you, Mr Silva, for your timely stories with history and art lessons so artfully applied. It is a joy to read your books! As a retired high school AP 12 English teacher, I especially enjoyed the allusions to Shakespeare's MACBETH and the Greek term for the tragic flaw in this novel. Wondering if my former students remember our studies as fondly as I do. Ms B, GHS

Another wonderful Daniel Silva/Gabriel Allon novel. This new read is rich with a complex plot based on today's world situation and reintroduces a character from novels past. As with other Silva books, I could not put it down and didn't want it to end.

DISCLAIMER: I received an ARC yesterday which guaranteed an honest review and no spoilers. I have read all Daniel Silva's Books sometimes in 2 or 3 days I read this in 8 hours with only brief stops. This is masterful and definitely his best. He makes no secret of the fact that he stopped after 250 pages because of current events and then thought of a way to redeem the leader of Saudi Arabia. By page 34 I was completely fascinated and having trouble breathing. However, throughout the book the author intersperses humor and wit and uses the same phrases repeatedly which is something regular readers have come to appreciate. He makes you laugh while you are so completely enthralled you can't put the book down. He also doesn't hesitate to tear out your heart. He cobbles together actual political events such as the death of a journalist and the rise into power of a tyrant and know that you have to accept an imperfect ally and how to turn them into an asset. This becomes a completely believable narrative and one that by the end of the book you could wish to be true. A believable fairy tale. But not all fairy tales end with a handsome prince kissing the princess. This is definitely his best work. I may have thought that before but I KNOW that this is it.

WOW....Daniel Silva is a dynamic excellent storyteller. And this book is even more compelling to read. Daniel Silva writes fiction but in such a way, that one sees how our current world and the corruption therein is all too real. Thank you Daniel for all of your books.

As authors of serial prose frequently fade with each installment, Mr. Silva's trenchant offerings grow better and better. One can only hope that someone from the "office" is watching over him. Although the tsar doesn't read, his courtiers are undoubtedly familiar with Mr. Silva and, as the saying goes, "familiarity breeds contempt."

I always immediately purchase any book he publishes. He would be my favorite author because his novels both entertain and educate. The characters come alive and you feel like you are in the story with them. Anxiously awaiting his next novel!

the New Girl by Daniel Silva In the New Girl Daniel Silva steps out of his formula. He does not start the novel with background information about Gabriel Allon or anyone else. Rather, he starts right in with the story and we learn about Gabriel as the story unfolds, through the characters he interacts with. As the other Gabriel books this one can be read as a stand alone but it does help the reader appreciate the story if earlier books have been read. If you are a Daniel Silva fan, this novel won’t disappoint you. 08.27.19

As always I couldn't wait to get to the next page and yet I hated knowing when I got close to the end..... It's a little hard to explain to those that have not read his books how they can be so suspenseful exciting to read and so informative of our time without a minute of boredom ... Of course my only complaint is that I am finished and will now have to wait for him to write his next book....Like all the other fans of Gabriel Allon I only wish his next adventure started now and not a year from now ....I will be thinking of him saving us from our own stupidity and waiting to read about it lord knows we give him plenty to write about these days.... Thank you for a exciting suspenseful (a little bit) educational can't put it down book......I can't say enough great things about his books just now that it is morning I better try for a little sleep......

Disappointed. I've read all of this series and enjoyed them. This one was disjointed and hard to keep straight. I think Gabriel should retire. Daniel Silva needs to write so that the reader can follow the multiple characters from past adventures and not have to reread prior books.
