Overview

Fung zeroes in on why insulin resistance has become so prevalent and offers specific outside-the-box solutions that have emerged as the key to maximizing health."
—Jimmy Moore, author, Keto Clarity and Cholesterol Clarity

Everything you believe about how to lose weight is wrong. Weight gain and obesity are driven by hormones—in everyone—and only by understanding the effects of insulin and insulin resistance can we achieve lasting weight loss.

In this highly readable and provocative book, Dr. Jason Fung sets out an original, robust theory of obesity that provides startling insights into proper nutrition. In addition to his five basic steps, a set of lifelong habits that will improve your health and control your insulin levels, Dr. Fung explains how to use intermittent fasting to break the cycle of insulin resistance and reach a healthy weight—for good.

These concepts make total sense. Carbs & sugar are the main source of the diets of so many - they are quick & easy. Unfortunately they lead to increased insulin even if glucose levels are in the normal range. It is increased insulin levels from excess carbs, sugar/sugar substitutes and the low/lack of fiber that lead to ever increasing obesity rates. We need to rethink the 'calories in calories out' misbelief and learn to eat in ways that decrease insulin levels to get back to a healthy weight. We need to focus on a balance of fresh carbohydrates (fruits/vegetables) and protein sources. We need to go against what we've been taught for so many years - eat low fat - and eat the necessary fat needed for our bodies to function properly and lower insulin levels to overcome ever increasing obesity rates. Thank you Dr. Fung!

Excellent book! Every health/diet/fitness expert needs to read this. One of the greatest weight loss book that cuts through all the stuff taught out there. Fascinating information provided by science, facts, data, experiments & human observation. If you want your vehicle to run efficiently & the best, you don't put gasoline and water into the tank. Likewise with your body, if you want it to be as efficient as possible & last as long as possible, you can't put garbage in it! This book explains what the garbage is and how to avoid it.

It's a game changer: Dr. Fung does not just point-out the now infamous Government/no-nothing agency's false ideas about a proper food diet/exercise. AND he gives more than just a redirection about the necessity to change the US SAD and our looming health crash. Absolutely a new 21st Century paradigm, he has a clever revelation on where and how we need to change our perceptions of human metabolism. Original and very sound, he explains the hormonal basis for our bodies actions, and showing the difference between real food vs cr_ _-food. You owe it to yourself to spend a little time, to understanding the wonderful design and protection we have in our human physiology!

This is a new book about insulin. It does NOT give a specific diet plan so thoughbibformative, its Not really helpful. . The Zone diet cover the same insulin and weight gain issues but helps you figure out what to eat. Duh.
