The Fates are cackling their bony asses off...

It's been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they've given him have been violent and bloody--which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He's got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy's deal might be, but it's a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

JLA books never disappoint, this book is no exception. I LOVED this book. It is slightly more adult than the covenant series books but it's Seth, did you expect anything less? This has a great story line, never gets boring and the way it ended is just perfect. I can't wait to read more of this series.

It's not surprise that I love JLA books. The first book I read of her's was Half-Blood, which is the first book in the Covenant series. I loved that book and was an immediate fan of both her and that series. That series is YA and is the same world as this one. This series spins off that one but is NA. I think you could read this one without having read the Covenant series because JLA rocks at helping you understand what's up without it being boring to those of us have read the first series. BUT, you will understand Seth better and love him more if you went through that first series with him. I continue to be blown away with how much better JLA stories get with every book. She has been my favorite author for a while now but this book just reaffirmed that. The characters... JLAs stories are always very character driven and this one is no exception. She creates characters that feel real. They stay in character while responding to the choices of themselves and those around them. They grow, usually a lot. That happens a lot for Seth. Seth. From the very first time I met Seth, I didn't trust him. He had his following in the Covenant series but I wasn't one of them. I knew he wasn't the right choice for Alex though he is so hard to resist at times. As he made choices that ripped us all apart, I became angry at him. (Characteristic of JLA books - my emotions are always involved). But then he did something at the end of the series that redeemed him for me and I hurt for him. There was no doubt he was in pain. That's where we pick him up with this spin-off series. As the blurb suggests, he's spent the last year doing the dirty work for the Gods. He's not happy and he doesn't believe he deserves anything better than what he has. But then he meets Josie. He wants to be able to even consider things with her but he resists, feeling undeserving. Being around her has him making different choices though and he changes. Josie. I love her. It's so infrequent that I love the girl as much as the guy in a story. It's usually one or the other that I love the most. Not this time. I love them both so much and I see how much they need each other. They give each other the strength to get through some pretty hard things. Seth thought he had in his sights what he wanted before and then lost it but he's just now seeing that he had no idea of what was good. Josie and Seth have some things in common that help them understand each other better than anyone else could. She's drawn to him and he to her. She sees past the jerk he can be to the man that he is. I loved her so much for that. Despite her mortal nature, she gets him and everything that he has gone through. The world... Greek Gods has always been a personal favorite of mine and I am so glad that this world doesn't end with the end of the Covenant series. It's wonderful to see Apollo and his popping in at the worst possible moments tendency continue (#TeamLeon and #TeamBob). Seeing Deacon and Luke together and being there for Seth and Josie was so comfortable for me. I even enjoyed seeing Marcus again. It was also so interesting to see how the changes in the Covenant laws from the end of that series are now effecting things in this series. Change is never easy and just because the laws have changed doesn't mean that everything is unicorns and rainbows. It's just another way that JLA has of being a complete author. She covers all the details and makes it real even in a paranormal world. The humor... Another trademark of a JLA book is the humor. She has phrases and a style that are uniquely hers. And she brings the giggling, and bursts of laughter all the time. Even in very tense moments when I'm seriously stressing about MY characters, I find myself laughing. That's just her and her books. Love that so much. Sethie and Joe were just so fun to hang out with even when they were dealing with some series stuff. The storyline... JLA books are the hardest for me to predict. I read a lot! It's pretty easy for me to figure out story lines especially if they are overused. But not these books. I read this one with my co-blogger, Jess, and we tried to predict things along the way. We were blowing up text with our thoughts. We got some small things right but most of the time we were both just freaking out as things went down that we were surprised about. And this story did a great job of causing both Jessica and I to fall one hundred percent in love with Seth and Josie. We are #TeamSeth and #TeamJosie. We have a hate list that includes Hyperion and Thea. Can you see that the story evokes strong emotions from the reader? It really does. The ending... 30 pages to go, I was terrified. I read this book early (in July) and I'm feeling the cliffhanger coming and thinking I can't take it. I can't wait 18 months to 2 years to find out what happens. But I shouldn't doubt the mad writing skills of JLA. There is no cliffhanger. Instead there is a satisfying ending that makes me both want more and feel okay. It's perfect. The heat... Yeah, this one is steamy and yummy. How could it not be with Seth involved. It's very clearly a NA book and not a YA book. I don't recommend anyone under 18 read this one, it's that hot. But it's also sweet. A tender and yummy side of Seth that just had me falling harder and harder for him. Who should read this... If you're over 18, you should read this. If you love JLA books, you should read this. If you read the Covenant series, you should read this. If you love a great paranormal world with a steamy hot guy that can kick some serious behind, you should read this. If you love a great heroine that's both strong and mouthy, then you should read this one. Just read it. It's five stars and if I could give it a million stars, I would. It's that good.

There is a reason why Jennifer Armentrout is one of my favorite authors. Actually, several... But I'll touch on the most important reason. She can completely encapsulate the reader. Her dialogue, her descriptions, flow and depth of character completely, utterly, eternally enthrall and bewitch. In plain English: she completely rocks. I love her Covanent Series, and she seamlessly transitioned Seth into the main focus. It was like watching an onion get peeled layer by layer. His character developed and depended extensively. He was as layered and rich and fulfilling as the best Baklava in town. Oh. Yum. Oh. Jennifer baked us a complex, organic, textural, fulfilling story that stands on it's own apart from The Covenant Series. The transition was flawless, the emotional pull even more dynamic. Excuse me while I do my happy dance while clapping like a tween at a One Direction concert. Let me return to obsessing talking about my new book boyfriend. Seth really took me by surprise in this new series. It felt like I never really knew him. Maybe it was the aftermath. Maybe because I was so obsessed focused on Aidan. But for whatever reason, he became a tangible and tantalizing character. And that is a good thing. A fantastic thing. As in, hold-on-to-your-pants-and-try-not-to-pee-your-pants-because-this-coaster-ride-just-went-into-orbit good thing. Yeah. Seriously. Bravo to Jennifer to creating yet another decadent, delicious and obsessing series for us to devour. This series is now one of my favorites. Standing ovation well deserved!

The Return by Jennifer L. Armentrout!!!! Holy Daimons babies!!!!! Seeing this side of Seth is something you don’t want to miss. Sweet Salvation for a character who has been to Hades and back and will someday spend eternity there. The Return comes after the Covenant Series which I highly recommend you read first. If the cover of this book doesn’t catch your attention the first two chapters will have you hooked. If I write any more I will spoil the joy of reading this book. There is satisfaction to be had, so get reading my friends.

So addicting ... I've read it 3 times now. Seth may be the ultimate book boyfriend. The story sucks you in and the chemistry and sexy banter that this guy delivers leaves you frustrated that book 2 isn't already available so there's more of Seth to enjoy. Highly recommended!! Can't wait for book 2!

I'm nearly at a loss for words for what to say about The Return. I've read it twice since last summer. I loved it just as much – if not more – the second time around. My biggest takeaways from The Return are these: Seth is everything and Jen is a genius. Confession time: I've never read JLA's entire Covenant series. I started it a couple years ago. I really enjoyed it. But, sometime during the wait for release of the new novels, I stopped reading. I can't say I lost interest, but other shiny things definitely caught my attention and put this series on the back burner. (I've probably said a couple times here that I suck at series. This is a perfect example.) Of course, I have every intention of going back and reading the Covenant series from the beginning, but I didn't get it done before reading The Return. And, you know what? It didn't matter a bit. Jen weaves in just enough back story details that I never once felt lost while reading this. I remember enough of the Covenant books to know that Seth wasn't always a character I could see myself rooting for. He's flawed. He's complex. But, oh-my-gods, he's amazing. Even having never read the entire previous series, I was excited for his story and the start of the Titan series. (I mean, HELLO, a new JLA series... and new adult paranormal romance? SIGN ME UP.) I truly had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I imaged it would be wonderful. It was that, and more. I won't dive far into the plot because I don't want to ruin this story for you. What I will tell you is that this book has Jen's trademark wit and characters you can't help but love. Seth and Josie are fantastic together. Jen's couples always have the best freaking banter and these two are no exception. There's oodles of sexual tension and a couple scenes that just made me melt. *sigh* There's so much more than romance in this book though. I love the mythology and the drama that goes along with it. There's plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat. Both times I read this book, I couldn't walk away until I made it to the last page. Yes, even the second time, when I knew what would happen. Oh, and if you're worried about cliffhangers, you won't find one. Of course, the wait for the second book will still be painful, regardless. I can't wait to get another glimpse of this world and these characters.  The Return was just flat-out fantastic. It was one of my favorite books of 2014. It made me want to go back and reread (and finish) the Covenant series. (I bought *ALL* of the paperbacks. Even the novellas.) As soon as I can carve out some time, I have every intention of reading them. Then I'll probably read The Return again... just because it was that good. If this book wasn't on your radar already, it really should be.  I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

4.5☆ I really liked this book. Seth is such and entertaining character to read about; he really is a hoot! I enjoyed Josie, but not nearly as much as Seth. I thought it was a very good storyline. I enjoyed getting to read from Seth's perspective since we never got to hear his side in the Covenant series, especially since all of what happened in those books has really changed him as a person.

I love Seth. As much as I knew he wasn't the right one for Alex in the Covenant series, I still adored him. I could maybe compare it to how I loved Jacob in the Twilight universe, but not for Bella. This book definitely took this wonderful world created by Armentrout into a new direction, one that was definitely an exciting place to be. As usual, something I love that the author does a lot, was that she tied in the tv show Supernatural. I also like that this means her stories will often take place in Missouri or Kansas, the two states I live and work in, so it makes them have a personal connection for me. As part of the giveaway, I believe I won the other books in this series as well, so I look forward to reading on and finding out how Seth will do with his new interest, Josie. And I do snicker every time she calls him Sethie. Did I mention how cool it was meeting the guy who is the cover model for the books at Apollycon? And that I got to go get him and the other ones coffee? :-)

Loved it! I am a big fan of the Covenant series and an even bigger fan of Seth, so I was in my element when I heard that Ms Armentrout had written the Return. And it was brilliant! I got to know Seth so much better (I knew there was so much more to him than I saw in the Covenant series). He has matured and wishes to atone for his sins. (I always knew that he was a good guy!) It was enlightening to read his point of view so that I could understand his thought processes and know what his thoughts were about his past actions as well as Alex. I loved Josie – she was tough, yet still vulnerable and naive, and she treated Seth like a person. Josie got to know Seth through innocent eyes without knowing any of his past and she saw through the smart, arrogant façade that most saw. ‘You're not just the Apollyon, Seth.’ ‘You're're just Seth.’ I loved how it was not insta love, but a slow process of truly knowing each other. I loved their witty banter! And I so enjoyed seeing Apollo, Luke and Deacon again. They added humour, warmth and an extra dimension to the story-line. It was funny, dark, heart-warming, scary, and enthralling – I had so many emotions whirling around inside. There was a perfect balance between humour, romance, action and mystery and I thoroughly enjoyed reading every page. I can’t wait for the next book!

Mythology meets urban fantasy in The Return by Jennifer L. Armentrout. The gods are preparing for war with the Titans and their progeny is at risk. Seth, sworn to the gods, has been assigned protection duty to Josie.  Josie is your average human college student until Seth appears on campus. Josie's world is turned upside down when she is told she is a demigod with her powers bound. That there is Titan size trouble heading her way and her life is never going to be the same. This is a great new series for me to devour. Fun, sassy characters with a marvelous story to tell us...I can't wait for more.
