Overview

The Reverend Curtis Black is no innocent choir boy, but after learning that his wife, Charlotte, had two affairs in a matter of months, he decides enough is enough. He may have forgiven her the way God expects, but he hasn't forgotten. And though he hates the thought of their children, Matthew and Curtina, hurting even more—and dreads disappointing his congregation with yet another scandal—Curtis is determined to file for divorce, as soon as Matthew graduates from high school. Charlotte, on the other hand, isn't ready to give up on her marriage or the man she loves so deeply. After nearly losing Curtis once before, she knows all too well just how empty life without him can be—so she does everything she possibly can, trying to make things up to him. Yet after months of repenting, reforming, and pleading for her husband to give her another chance, Charlotte realizes all her efforts may have been in vain. Another woman desperately wants to become the next Mrs. Curtis Black, and Curtis certainly isn't the kind of man who enjoys being alone. So Charlotte faces a decision: accept defeat and agree to the divorce or make one last stand to fight for her man. But when the situation takes a turn down a path that is both frightening and shocking, two questions arise: will the couple survive—or could this be the final blow to their once–blessed union?

I was really looking forward to reading this book, but by the 3rd chapter, it felt like I was reading the same lines over and over. Not until 3/4 of the book did anything happen and that wasn't very exciting. I usually carry her books everywhere I go, but I left this one at the office and read only at lunch. Could not wait to finish this book. Very disappointing!

This book was really, really hard to finish. The story line was very slow paced, not nearly as exciting or compelling as the previous books in the series. I would like to see a spin off from this series, such as a book on Matthew or another book on Alicia. Maybe even introduce a new character into the mix. Perhaps the Rev. Black storyline just needs a break for a while...

This book was incredibly boring. I was very surprised as Ns. Roby's other books are great.

Roby’s most recent novel, “The Reverend’s Wife” picks up where “Love, Honor and Betray” left off: the imminent divorce of Reverend Curtis Black from his third wife Charlotte. Although both have made mistakes in their marriage, including committing adultery, Curtis refuses to forgive his wife for her betrayals. Rev. Black is biding his time... waiting for his son Matthew to graduate from high school so he can serve his wife with divorce papers. Charlotte still desperately wants her marriage. However, she falls onto a destructive path that may drive Curtis away even sooner than he planned. Ultimately, the Blacks must learn a hard lesson about true forgiveness, redemption and the power of love. This latest offering in the Reverend Curtis Black series is a decent story. There is a tad bit of drama and a few surprises to keep the reader turning the pages. However, I found the story to be quite lackluster and not as engaging as the others in the series. Also, the ending does not leave unanswered questions which makes me wonder if Roby has penned the final novel in the series. Reviewed by: Flashette

This book is the same as always. Pastor Black and Charlotte continues to have martial problems. Infidelity, either on her part or his part. Charlotte continues to be a liar, schemer, cheat, and manipulative. It is time to bring this seris to an end. It is starting to look like the next book will be the 1st wife's (Tanya) husband dying, and Pastor Black go back that way. If this is the going on behind in a Pastor's life, who would ever want to go to church. If she is not going to end the series, please add something new and fresh, or better yet, let these two people go their separate ways, and truly find their soulmate. I was very disappointed with this book. It was a waste of my money

In the past, I would never spend my past times just reading a book...not until I stumbled along Kimberla Lawson on my Nook. This book was definitely ADDICTING! I couldnt put this one down! The characters are VERY REALISTIC, and at times i could see myself in them. The Rev. Curtis series is amazing, i have read 3 books in less than 2 weeks!! I love her style of writing and I will definitely purchase more books from her!

I started reading the sample (first 4 and a half chapters) and I thoroughly enjoyed what I read. I will HAVE to buy his book to find out what Curtis Black or Charlotte will do in this book. Kimberla Lawson Roby and Curtis Black always offer a good book to read.

As always Mrs Roby has given us a read to hold our attention. Charlotte, Curtis, and Matthew are all full of suprises....I can't wait to see how Curtina getting older and college life affects this family. Maybe a wedding after college, What will Alicia do now that her ex is getting out of jail.....LOOKING FOWARD TO SEEING WHAT GOD HAS IN STORE NEXT FOR THE BLACK FAMILY

I love reading the Rev. Black series. Glad to read that Curtis didn't give into tempatition. Rev. Black always attracts crazy women. I hope this is not the end of this series, cause I would for Matt to have a story. Kim Mel.

I love Kimberla's book, but I have to say that I was very disappointed with this book!!! I did not like the ending & it was similiar to another Curtis Black book. The last book I read was disappointing too & I'm a little nervous to purchade her next book (I've read all her books) I wish you the best amd I'm not trying to be mean, but you really need to step it up just a little or you might just lose some readers ;(
