Lesbian. Bisexual. Queer. Transgender. Straight. Curious. This book is for everyone, regardless of gender or sexual preference. This book is for anyone who's ever dared to wonder. This book is for you.

There's a long-running joke that, after "coming out," a lesbian, gay guy, bisexual, or trans person should receive a membership card and instruction manual. This is that instruction manual. You're welcome.

Inside you'll find the answers to all the questions you ever wanted to ask: from sex to politics and hooking up to stereotypes, coming out, and more. This candid, funny, and uncensored exploration of sexuality and what it's like to grow up LGBT also includes real stories from people across the gender and sexual spectrums.

You will be entertained. You will be informed. But most importantly, you will know that however you identify (or don't) and whomever you love, you are exceptional. You matter. And so does this book.

This was so good but I want MORE. Obviously a book containing all necessary info on being LGBTQIA+ would be mammoth-sized and way too long to read, but I loved what I read here so much that I wish some parts were expanded. For example, this book does a PHENOMENAL job with LGBT issues, but I would have loved more info on asexuality, pansexuality, intersex, genderqueer, and the other lesser known and understood sexual identities and genders. But regardless this book is fantastic and I'm totally recommending this to everyone

James Dawson has built a wonderful ‘from the ground up’ book that deals with a myriad of issues that face the LBGTQ community, be you a teen or an adult. But, something amazing happened in this compilation of the ‘Q & A about Gay’, everyone else can use this to get answers to questions, clarify some rather niggly points and even increase their own understanding and acceptance.  Do you know the difference between transvestite, transgender and transsexual? You will when  you finish this  book, AND you will also have been treated to several first person perspective stories that discuss living as someone who is different and perhaps discriminated against simply because of their identification.   While this book is not all-encompassing, nor does it provide every perspective, the largest of the stereotypes and issues are presented in clear and concise language, giving every reader the ability to learn and start to develop an understanding if not tolerance for those who are different from themselves. I’ve always maintained  that reading will give you an entrée into worlds you may not know, but come to understand just a bit better.  When you start to understand those differences, you cease to be so afraid of them: and that loss of fear will lead to tolerance if not acceptance. A must in today’s ever-shrinking world.  Told with clear honesty, humor and a chatty style that doesn’t shrink away from difficult moments, this is a story  that presents facts and advice in an easy to read form, perfect for anyone looking for more information.   I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
