Book 2 in Laurie Larsen's popular inspirational romance series, Pawleys Island Paradise

Life's a beach in Pawleys Island!

Jeremy Harrison served his time -- ten years in prison paid his debt to society for bad business practices. Now released, his plan for rehabilitation is clear: put his faith in God, work hard and put his past mistakes behind him. The last thing he wants is to be featured in a magazine article about ex-cons who successfully re-acclimated into society. Worse still, the gorgeous reporter takes an instant dislike to him.

Emma Jean Slotky knows that one of the interviewee names in her new magazine article assignment sounds familiar. Her dad helps her figure out why -- Jeremy Harrison was responsible for the destruction of his employer and ultimately, Emma's family, all those years ago. How can Emma possibly face the man who ruined her family with professionalism, and not disappoint her boss?

As Jeremy works to redeem himself in his new life, acts of sabotage plague his fledgling custom-made furniture business. He and Emma discover growing feelings for each other, but how can their relationship blossom with such a dubious foundation? As pressures mount, an innocent life is put in danger and the two must work together to find the person responsible in time to prevent disaster.

I thoroughly appreciate Larsen’s writing style.  The way that she mixes real life trials along with faith, without ever preaching at her audience, is brilliant.  Layer this with her well put together storyline and remarkably visual descriptions and you have a very fulfilling novel. Larsen’s complex yet approachable characters will definitely call to you.  She develops both of her main characters in such a manner that you not only know where they came from but can also understand how they, eventually, end up together.  Larsen carefully illustrates what both characters have gone through in their past, without rehashing it detail by detail.  Her development was low key, yet very thorough.  This is definitely one of those novels that will be appreciated by anyone looking for a sweet romance with some substance.   Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

This was a truly amazing story of inner demons, faith and love. While this story is fictional, I have to believe the underlying idea of it are not; a person who has been released from prison and wants to live his life following a better path. That was Jeremy's motivation. The trick was convincing society that he had changed, namely those in his town whose lives he had destroyed. Enter Emma, who has a VERY personal connection to Jeremy's past. With her moral compass pointing due north, she forces herself to do her professional duty, even if it means helping the man who caused her family so much grief. However, what Emma and Jeremy did not count on was the mutual attracted that bloomed between them. Seeing how their feelings grew in spite of the struggles life threw their way really made this a very heartwarming story to read (my favorite was the very end!!!). While I personally would have liked to see more interaction between Emma and Jeremy throughout the story, the detailed picture I gained of the other characters made the final conflict and subsequent resolution that much more gripping and, ultimately, very satisfying! ***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

This is an awesome series of books. Many of the characters repeat from book to book with the main focus being on a different couple. I binge read the first three books in less than two days! The author makes Pawleys Island living and these characters come alive. The characters felt like friends when I was finished reading. Each couple has to journey through some big changes but paths become clear when they listen to God. I highly recommend Laurie Larsen's tales to anyone looking for a new series to read.
