Recorded in Los Angeles, CA, and co-produced by rock en español expert Gustavo Santaolalla, the second album by Grammy-winning Juanes, highly anticipated following the release of its first single, "A Dios Le Pido," once again delivers his awarded fusion of urban, rock, and Latin American rhythms. A spiritual folk-rock song opens this 12-track record, followed by the romantic mid-tempo "Es por Ti" and the Latin pop ballads "Un Día Normal" and "La Unica." Colombian Juanes (born Juan Esteban Aristizabal) goes local with "Luna," a pop-oriented vallenato, the most popular traditional rhythm from his native country. After the orchestrated ballad "Dia Lejano," the album's rock en español side emerges with "Mala Gente" and "Fotografía," recorded along with Nelly Furtado. Un Día Normal ends with the Latin dance-pop of "La Noche."

...this is a great place to start!!! Juanes knows music. It's a great CD from start to finish. This CD tells all about him from relationships with his parents "Historia de Juan" to past girlfriends "La Paga" and "Mala Gente" and "La Unica". Over all, I strongly recommend buying this CD. Your toes will start tapping instantly when you press the play button.PROMISE!!! Bettra J. Jackson-Cleveland, OH

This album delivers. Juanes is very talented. This rock en español album is great for listening at home or in the car. You will thoroughly enjoy it -- even if you don't understand Spanish. Your feet will be tapping. Éste es un disco maravilloso! Juanes es un cantante muy inteligente. Compralo y disfruta todos las canciones.

Another pretty voice cantando en espanol en estilo gringo o musica popular estadodunidense. The lyrics are sufficiently mature enough to interest the sophomores dweling in adolescent emotional and mental meanderings. Nevertheless, this heartfelt delivery lacks originality to make it consistently interesting. Nothing new, nothing special.

Every song on this album is great. It is Latin music in a modern style, not the countrified-sounding semi-mariachi-type music that you may have heard. If you understand Spanish, you will like the lyrics, but even if you don't the music is good in itself.

I first came across Juanes by watching Austin City Limits. I DO NOT understand Spanish. Sometimes, even hearing Spanish can almost drive me crazy (no offense) but since the language seems so FAST to me it sometimes sounds like gibberish, I wonder how Spanish speaking people can follow it. Anyway, when I heard Juanes, none of that mattered. My foot was definately tapping and his looks just added to the pleasure. I recommend this to everyone I know.
