Lena Horne was the consummate professional nightclub entertainer throughout her career, effortlessly mixing Broadway tunes with uptown pop and sweet orchestral arrangements (usually conducted by her husband, Lennie Hayton
), even as she juggled things with an acting career on stage and in films. Horne had completed her film commitments to MGM in 1956 and was free to focus her attention on music again. Now in her second go-round with RCA Records, Horne recorded a studio album, 1957's Stormy Weather
, which is here in this two-disc set in its entirety, and several live sets, including the three released as LPs and collected here, 1957's Lena Horne at the Waldorf Astoria
, 1961's Lena at the Sands
, and 1962's Lena Lovely & Alive
, before she moved on to record for Charter Records.
