Overview

The hypnotic, deeply seductive novels of Anne Rice have captivated millions of fans around the world. It all began a quarter of a century ago with Interview with the Vampire. Now, in one chilling volume, here are the first three classic novels of The Vampire Chronicles.

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE
Witness the confessions of a vampire. A novel of mesmerizing beauty and astonishing force, it is a story of danger and flight, love and loss, suspense and resolution, and the extraordinary power of the senses.

“A magnificent, compulsively readable thriller . . . Anne Rice begins where Bram Stoker and the Hollywood versions leave off and penetrates directly to the true fascination of the myth–the education of the vampire.”
Chicago Tribune

THE VAMPIRE LESTAT
Once an aristocrat from pre-revolutionary France, now a rock star in the decadent 1980s, Lestat rushes through the centuries seeking to fathom the mystery of his existence. His is a mesmerizing story–passionate and thrilling.

“Frightening, sensual . . . A psychological, mythological sojourn . . . Anne Rice will live on through the ages of literature. . . . To read her is to become giddy as if spinning through the mind of time.”
–San Francisco Chronicle

QUEEN OF THE DAMNED
Akasha, the queen of the damned, has risen from a six-thousand-year sleep to let loose the powers of the night. She has a marvelously devious plan to “save” mankind–in this vivid novel of the erotic, electrifying world of the undead.

“With The Queen of the Damned, Anne Rice has created universes within universes, traveling back in time as far as ancient, pre-pyramidic Egypt and journeying from the frozen mountain peaks of Nepal to the crowded, sweating streets of southern Florida.”
Los Angeles Times

This is good classic vampire lore. The character's are touching, the stories are well written and interesting. For anyone who is an eclectic reader this is an essential addition to a permanent library.

I've read my paperback novels of The Vampire Chronicles so many times I have to put a rubberband around them to hold them together! I'm looking forward to adding them to my Nook library as well.

I started reading Anne Rice books when I was 11. The first one I read was Interview with a Vampire,I could't put the book down. My mom started me on the books. I'm 19 now and have read every book she has ever put out, from Interview With a Vampire to The Mayfair Witches, to Sleeping Beauty, every book. Every time she comes out with a new book, I feel like a little kid again. I hope she never stops writting.

I just turned 13 two weeks ago and for my age Anne Rice's books are considered "Adult Books" When I was smaller I never understood why my father raved about the vampire chronicles so much. I thought is was funny of him to do so and because I had never seen him actually read before. I remember when I was about six I seen Interview With The Vampire and I loved it. I became obsessed with the whole idea of the undead and because Brad Pitt made such an awsome vampire. About two months ago I was watching the movie and I kept thinking to myself I wonder how the author describe such sences. The next thing I knew I was walking into a book store and I picked it up. Of course my Aunt said she would not buy it for me because she thought I was too young. I didn't care I bought it anyway. It's a great book and so are the others. I suggest them to anyone who likes the movies. Hehe. It's a whole different thrill when you read them.

Have loved these stories for years. If you've only seen the movies, read them (and if you watched Queen of the Damned...forget that you did so). Excellent characters and storylines.

Anne Rice and her vampire stories presented here are simply wonderful. The characters are complex and keep your attention through the whole collection. Always a great read. I've added it to my library at home.

I love vampire period novels, perhaps more than the next person, so I couldn't wait to read the most talked about Chronicles ever. However, I must say that while it is mostly well written (several grammatical errors, who doesn't have some?), it wastes too much time focusing on repetitious explaining that seems really unnecessary. I wound up forcing myself to keep reading and get through it (much like the Jacob portions of Twilight, am I right?). While it did have some redeeming parts, there were not enough to make this series enjoyable or recommendable. I love the lore parts but that's about all there is to love. I'm definitely disappointed in it but I won't write Anne off completely.

Im 14 aand a year ago my mom madme watch interview with a vampire and queen of the damned i suddenly fell inlove with it. The books are exotic and suspenseful making you become infactuated with Lestat, Louie, or Claudia. Great things about books is if you dislike something or don't want to read "history" just skip forward(though i highly discourage this). Just read the dang books. You won't regret this at least I think so.

It took a bit to get use to her style of writing. BUt once you do, the stories are great. I've read the 1st 5 in the vampire chronicles, and they get better as they go on.

The best stories on vampires that have ever existed or could ever exist. Lestat is an amazing villainous character and Louis is a stunning protagonist. Starting in rural Louisiana, Louis lived on a farm with his family. Lestat turns him into a vampire, and they travel and live together, partners in immortality, though they are soon joined by a little girl, Claudia. I don't want to spoil the action or adventure that takes place in the novel, but really it is worthwhile to read. Rice has amazingly gorgeous descriptive language about everything, especially time.

Wow, people have been telling me I needed to read these books for years now. For some reason I kept putting it off and starting some other books/series. But as soon as I started "Interview With A Vampire," I was INSTANTLY addicted, and COULD NOT put it down! Yes ths movies were good, but just like any other time books have been made into a movie, so much was robbed from the storyline! There's just no comparison! I cannot wait to read the resty!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!! ????
