For fans of Lee Child, John Grisham, Jack Reacher and Michael Connelly

"Full of thrills and tension - but smart and human too." -Lee Child , #1 World Wide Bestselling Author of Jack Reacher Thrillers

Judge Willa Carson's mother Kate Austin's new husband, a hot Italian model, lures Willa into investigating a thirty-year old murder. When no-nonsense Federal Judge Wilhelmina Carson is presented with the facts of the case she's convinced that Billie Jo Steam is innocent.

Determined to right the wrongs of a justice system in which she believes, and to please Kate no matter what, Willa pulls out all the stops, including the use of genetic testing and her most distinguished political connections, to give Billie Jo back her family and her freedom.

But there isn't much time to celebrate...

The deeper Willa delves into this timeworn case and the complex relationships that surround it, the more she realizes that there are still many people in Tampa - from pillars of the community, to old hippies, to friends and co-workers - who will do whatever it takes to keep the past buried. Judge Willa stays on the long, cold trail until truth prevails at the very end of the road and Kate makes a killing.

Ok I really enjoyed this book but I would not put it in the John Grisham category. I do not want to disparage the author as the story was excellent. The characters were will developed and interesting, and I must admit it was a fast read because I NEEDED to get to the end! I will read more from this author. I recommend the book.

This is the first book I've read by Diane Capri. I could not put it down. It is suspenseful, complex. and there are many unexpected developments in the story. What I like most is reading a story without graphic sexual descriptions and cussing. I will definitely read more by Ms. Capri.

Secrets can kill. Diane Capri has used her skills as a writer and lawyer to create a mystery based on politics, relationships, secrets, lies and deceit. She demonstrates how these attributes can be more lethal than any weapon a killer can possibly use. The hero of Wasted Justice, Judge Wilhelmina Carson (Willa), is a cigar-smoking, no-nonsense woman not to be messed with. Put her up to a challenge and she’ll take it. Billie Jo was convicted of murdering her husband, Trey, 30 years ago. Between Willa’s friend Ursula and Billie Jo’s son Harris, Willa is encouraged to informally investigate the case. There are other people who warn Willa against re-opening this case, but this only encourages her more. She decides to interview people who were close to Billie Jo and Trey, discovering “killing” secrets about people she thought she knew. Willa also enlists the help of Ben, the Chief of Police, convincing him to find the original evidence and use DNA tests on them that weren’t available at the time of the murder. Willa eventually discovers the truth about that fateful night but not without changing the lives of everyone related to the case including some of them winding up dead. Wasted Justice is full of “Killing Secrets” that Diane Capri skillfully uses to create a journey of twists and turns before leading us to the truth. I had minimal sleep for a couple of nights because I couldn't stop reading this book - but it was well worth the sacrafice. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a good mystery. (I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review)

Sometimes the"wonderful" reasearch and multiple cast slows my interest in the story

Another great story by Diane Capri as Judge Willa Carson helps to release a woman wrongly accused of murder who's been imprisoned for thirty years. As she rescues the woman, other murders are prevalent and history of free love and mayhem are evident. Excellent descriptions of the Florida scenery make one picture themselves there. A definite read for all mystery readers.

THIS IS THE FOURTH BOOK IN THE JUSTICE SERIES BY DIANE CAPRI. ANOTHER ONE I COULDN'T PIT DOWN. LOTS OF TWISTS AND TURNS AND I THOUGHT I HAD IT FIGURED OUT "WHO DUN IT" SEVERAL TIMES. JUDGE WILLA CARSON IS SUCH A GREAT CHARACTER WHO REALLY TRIES TO HELP AND GET THE REAL STORY OUT. SHE REALLY GIVES IT HER ALL! ALL CHARACTERS TIE IN SO WELL TOGETHER AND HAS MADE ME A HUGE DIANE CAPRI FAN. I WILL READ ALL HER BOOKS. I HATED TO GO TO SLEEP AT NIGHT WANTING TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT.

Enjoyed this read. A little mystery keeps you entertained.

Another fun adventure for the lady judge that just can't seem to keep herself out of intriguing circumstances involving other folks' problems, mostly outside of her courtroom duties. Again frustrating, because in her enthusiasm she often overlooks obvious clues along her path toward solution of yet another mystery. The reader is welcome to develop any of a number of scenarios as she stumbles through both her court cases and her extra-curricular mystery of the day, but the author always has a sudden lurch in the scheme to keep the reader from becoming too complacent, A well-crafted plot, truly a fine reflection of the Tampa area, and a loveable albeit sometimes slow to catch on heroine, and a great supporting cast of characters makes this entire series of novels a welcome addition to anyone's library of contemporary mystery stories.

Persuaded by old friends, Judge Willa investigates a murder, much to the dislike of the Chief Judge, who doesn't want her to carry on such activities. THe former book I read was shorter, and much better. THere was a music group of friends, one of whom was killed. She ferrets the truth out. She is still smoking her little cigars, not setting a good example, as I think that she should. A book group might like this, if they don't mind a long book.

The book was a good read, but I do not know if I would go out of my way to read more of hers unless the topic really appealed to me.
