Wedding bells will be ringing in Weatherford, Texas, this Christmas when Phyllis Newsom opens up her home for her best friend’s wedding. And although the bride is wearing white, no one suspects that she’ll soon be wearing black…

After all the planning—and the cake tasting—the big day has arrived. Eve Turner, one of Phyllis’s boarders—and her best friend—is moving out and getting married to the affable Roy Porter. While she’s sad to see Eve go, Phyllis is more than happy to host the event in her house and to bake the bride and groom a delicious three-tiered coconut wedding cake. Even though a snowstorm in the forecast seems like a recipe for disaster, the day runs as smoothly as butter cream.

But the marriage doesn’t last long past the honeymoon. When Roy’s found dead at a Weatherford bed-and-breakfast, Eve’s the top suspect. Now Phyllis must find out who iced Roy before her friend finds herself behind bars…

it's a pleasure to read a cozy mystery that focuses on people over the age of 40. this group of retired schoolteachers seems to find trouble and really enjoy doing so. another murder in their small town gets them all involved again because the deceased is the brand new husband of their friend eve. the mysterious past that is eve's is covered in this story, as well as the past of her new husband. seems as though many people could have wanted him dead, but eve had the best chance. the friends band together to solve the puzzle. a thoroughly enjoyable cozy!

The big day has arrived! Wedding Bells are ringing for Eve and Roy! Even the forecast of a snowstorm can't ruin this special day. Phyllis, Carolyn, and Sam have everything under control. The whole day is wonderful. When Eve and Roy return from their honeymoon they move to a local B&B while they continue to look for their own place. Who could have guessed that Eve would be moving back in with Phyllis? She has no choice when Roy is found dead in their room at the B&B and Eve is the prime suspect. Phyllis has been warned to leave the investigation to the police but she has to prove that Eve is innocent. She needs to find out who iced Roy before Eve ends up with a life sentence. I loved this story. We learn about the men of Eve's past, I knew there was more to her story. The author tempted us a bit in the last book and I couldn't wait for this installment. Washburn did not disappoint. This character's development was perfect. Livia J. Washburn is quite a storyteller. She brings her characters to life and readers become invested in their lives effortlessly. She has the perfect recipe to keep those pages turning and readers wanting to know how these retired teachers will get out of trouble this time. A cup of murder, a tablespoon of intrigue, a teaspoon of humor and a pinch of romance, mix together with fabulous characters and it bakes up to the perfect cozy mystery readers just can't wait to bite into. A delectable delight!! with another temptation that has me anxiously awaiting book #8.

Just finished this book. It was truly a big disappointment. It would be a nice read for teens; like fans of the Nancy Drew series. This book is listed as having 320 pages. A good portion of that number is several pages of recipes. It I had wanted a cookbook, I would have bought one. This is the first & last book I will ever read that is written by this author.
