Overview

PONTIA DELEON is a college coed at Langston Hughes College in the state of Louisiana. She is quite excited about moving up to the rank of lead majorette in her Junior Year. Her college love, Dominique Charles, is a star quarterback and sprinter at Langston Hughes College, NFL bound, and is very desirous of making Pontia Mrs. Dominique Charles. Xavier DeLeon is her elder brother and is attending medical school at Columbia University in New York City. He is very bright and talented like his sister. As loyal siblings they frequently exchange their views of how they plan to conduct their lives, careers and loves.

Pontia believes she has her goals in place. After she earns her bachelor's degree she intends to enter graduate school majoring in Journalism and Broadcasting. She loves Dominique very much but is not yet ready to hear her wedding bells ringing.

Uncertain of how to handle the romantic developments of her relationship Pontia suddenly discovers that she has a secret admirer. She is puzzled by the mysterious multitude of red roses that appear at her doorstep. In time this secret turns public and even though the laws of attraction appear quite normal, family and friends have one particular concern: she and he do not share the same skin tone.

Now Pontia must choose who will be the love of her life; by happenstance she finds herself in a delicious, White Chocolate situation.

You can tell that the author did her homework. If she has not pursued screen writing she should. In addition to being a novelist of course. WhiteChocolate is a very clever title and directly appropriate for the character(s) as well as the plot. Here you have a college coed who is cute, confident and she is having an interesting journey through her college life in many ways. She has a mind of her own which fosters a complicated realm of possible romance into 'unchartered waters' so to speak, and she is seemingly undaunted about what could materialize. Oh yes, I was caught off guard by the ending-which should really be a continuation. I highly agree with what others have written. This is a stay with you book and it is perfect for any age and any color.

When I began reading this novel there was a certain impression of innocence from the main character and as you go deeper into the plot then you have mixed impressions. The author's clever style prompted me to think what would I do if I were in the main character's shoes. The twisted situations kept my attention throughout. The focus on race relations is integrated well and no matter what your beliefs are you'll be touched by the outcomes.

It turns out that this story fits so well with the title. When I saw the front cover for the first time I wondered if it was a story based on passion alone. But, without telling too much about this book it has several connotations and messages that makes one wonder, What if I had tried that or, Who cares what others think. Some of the scenes seem surreal. I like to read a book that I cannot put down. And the ending blew me away! Now I can relate to that familiar cliche, 'Never judge a book by its cover'.

Very Entertaining Reading. Normally I avoid romance novels but WhiteChocolate is extraordinary. I took it with me to the golf course, to the shopping mall, and the barber shop. Each scene carries you to situations that make you pause and think and then think again I could not wait to flip to the next page to discover what had developed. The author took care and great effort to put this work together and it definitely deserves to be noticed. Send a copy to Oprah.

This author has done it again. Her lively way of bringing delicate situations and issues to the pages of a book stimulates one's reading pleasure. You can tell she gave considerable effort to the myriad ways people view romance and happiness with one of another ethnic group. The author also teases just a tad by giving the reader the impression that a given circumstance could be resolved and then she turns up the heat to thicken the plot even more. You can sense that she has truly studied human nature and she is right on point about how young people need to take a concerted effort(s) with their choices in today's society. It is definitely a book for all ages. I could not get enough of Aunt Prissy what a worldly woman she was and she never stepped out of the state of Louisiana. Some people actally have that quality. Be mindful, it is not a book to rush through, there is a benefit to reading this very cleverly written and stupendous book in low-gear because you don't want to miss anything. My best to the author.

What can I say about the author? She has marvelously written another priceless book. The title 'White love Chocolate' is definitely befitting. This was another mesmerizing book for me. I read the entire book in one sitting. It echoed my thoughts on interracial relationships. When it comes to love there really shouldn't be any boundaries. The ending was RIGHT ON! Here I go, once again, waiting for the sequel!! This is another must read book written by Henrietta Elmore Smith. Everyone should buy this book for either reading enjoyment or give it as a gift.

The saga starts off taking place in the South at a prominent Black college and Pontia the lead character has life figured out-so she thinks. Her life on campus is active and she is so proud of becoming the lead majorette by sheer happenstance. Her best friend Eunice is a "card". Pontia is sticking to her "southern ways" upbringing but Eunice wants to venture out. The book has all of the proper scenes for a college girl's life except there are two suitors desiring Pontia. They both have much to offer and Pontia needs to "Listen to her heart".

I appreciate the effort put forth in this her sophomore novel. It has all of the right ingredients to keep one from putting the book down. I felt so for Pontia. I became apart of her experience she seems to be in a romantic "tug of war". The ending was not what I expected then again I did not know what to expect but after reading WHITECHOCOLATE I do have some different views on this subject.

Very well written, kept my attention throughout the story and that is a rarity for me as a reader. I was able to emotionally connect with the characters, and found myself thinking of past situations in my own life. i would recommend this to any avid reader.

Pontia DeLeon is going about being a regular college girl and is so upbeat as she makes lead majorette; what a normal life she leads until she is thrust into a whirlpool of potential lust and love. Fortunately her upbringing steadies her plight or does it ?! Family and a colorful girlfriend try to help her along but Pontia demonstrates that she has the wherewithal to decide her destiny. WHITECHOCOLATE is an eyebrow raising novel filled with touching and compelling scenes and there is hope that Pontia will do what's best. Read it and find out for yourselves.

WhiteChocolate...the title is so perfect for his saga. It took me some time before I finished reading it I think because it was low gear reading. The play-like format is different but does add to the joy of reading the book. I recently read another book that had character like readings so maybe this author has started a new trend. She deserves applause for taking the story in the direction she did. I felt so attached to the main character. She is inexperienced but she seems to care for both men. I did not envy her. In life there are just some decisions you must make for yourself-I really liked her brother-who almost stole the show in a sense. The author writes with fine detail and in general I would prefer the opposite and then again I did not want the story to end. I think there should be a sequel. Anyway, a GOOD READ.

An inter-racial relationship is about to brew or is it? This story is a tease but I was intrigued with the idea of a looming love affair.

Romance is a favorite genre of mine. The author had my full attention from start to finish. I was touched by the concerted effort of the secret suitor to capture Pontia's heart; what woman wouldn't. It was a xcomplete adventure and I am ready for more.

Pontia is a complex character in a complex situation. She has the talent to wow the crowds at the college football games as lead majorette but when it comes to romance she needs some help. I so wanted to join her in the book and give her some insight; strangely her parents were of little help or maybe she didn't want to listen. When it comes to college you are on your own any way but, it does not mean you have all of the answers. This was a stimulating reading adventure.

I have had this book on my night stand for a while and finally I finished it. I surrendered myself to this story-I was so impressed with the festering plight of Pontia. The book is a real tease but I stayed with it until the end. It overfliows with electric scenes making you wonder how is this going to turn out. College life is to be an adventure for sure but Ponta, Dominique, Jason and Eunice to name a few are in a whirlpool of sorts. When I reached the end I had to scratch my head because I was expecting something very different; but I reminded myself that this author is so unique when it comes to drawing you in with little nuances, hints and then direct blows. I concluded that Five Stars is actually what it deserves..

A perfect upside down romance story. Pontia and Nicee are the best of college frrends but they are as different as night and day. They are so funny and nothing can interrupt their friendship; though Pontia's brother seems to have palpatations for Nicee, but he already has a girl friend. Anyway, Pontia walks into a lover's web and is seemingly stuck. How it all turns out is a mystery.

Well worth the read. I concur with some of the other reviews indicating how vulnerable Pontia's situation. My concern was of her making the right choices. She is in her early twenties has her romantic fate been determined? . All of the characters in this novel brought effervescence to the plot. Human behavior is unpredictable as is obvious in this work.

The author took a unique and clever launch into interracial romance. The story's setting begins at Langston Hughes College then leads you into a saga of colorful characters with lofty emotions. Pontia DeLeon, the main character is an attractive brown shinned coed who has an NFL bound suitor who is pleasing to any woman's eyes though only has eyes for Pontia. Throughout the book Pontia and friends go through their campus lifestyle of classes, football games, contests when a bold and saucy development takes hold of Pontia's senses. Is it worth her while to be inquisitive? She has a challenge or maybe an opportunity; bottom line the decision is hers. A FABULOUS READ.

This is the author's sophomore novel and it is race based you could say. There are many books that focus on inter-racial relationships but this book is unique from the rest because, Pontia Deleon captures your attention, and your heart. She is decent, smart, athletic and lovely and she has hot suitors who want her full and undivided attention. This is a book I have read more than three times; it is just that captivating, in my opinion.

It is a challenge to review this book. Many intricate dertails and characters involved. A huge introduction to common sense in romance. I wonder if a sequel is on the way because I needed more from this saga. It kept me going. The author seems to enjoy teasing her readers. A great Read------yet bring your patience.
