Why Memere, Why? is a story about a Mexican Hairless dog living in Vermont who is bullied because of her differences. Her name is Xola Lola, she is teased, then ignored at a local puppy park because she doesn't look like the other pups who are playing there. Her Memere (which means Grandmother in French) helps Xola Lola to turn this hurtful experience around by changing the perception of the word different! At the end, Xola Lola learns to embrace her differences......which make her "Unique".
About the Author
The author grew up on a small dairy farm in Jericho, Vermont. Her family, on both the Davis & Stygles sides have lived in this town for many generations. The Davis farm, to this day, is still owned and operated by her family. Her roots run deep here. She attended Mount Mansfield Union High School, after graduation she went on to the Vermont College of Cosmetology. She has spent the last 40 years as a cosmetologist, 32 of those in the same town that she raised her family in. Pamela is married to her husband Gary Pouliot. They have four children, Nicole, Neil, Brian and Mallory. She also has 4 wonderful granddaughters, Shannon, who is 14 going on 21, Isabella, age 12, is our dancer, Anne Shirley, age 7, the story teller and one of Xola's favorite humans and Lily who is 1 year old.
